Hi all,

3 new screen shots uploaded to the FPSC site. This time showing a simple WW2 themed level. Next time I'll try and grab one with some Nazi soldiers in it, but it's still a good contrast from the super-gloss shiny sci-fi levels we've shown so far.

Cheers,

Rich

Great - I think the last new shot there is just what people are were hoping to see, the little outdoor bit with a building shows that your not stuck indoors.

Yeah, good point! We'll take some more later on. There are outdoor scenery and events, like being able to shoot out lights, exploding barrels, soldiers behind sandbags (which I had already killed in order to take those shots), etc. It's coming on quite nicely.

First one looks really good

Second looks okay but very samey, if there are street lamps then really there needs to be a street, not just a floor with the same texture as the wall

Thirds looks okay as well - but very limited. The FOV looks a bit off and the wall textures look very samey. Really if that's the best outdoor levels can get then it's worth sticking indoors. For me, I'd like to be able to have streets and pavements etc. (and I suppose I can if I model them).

Sorry for being critical, but somebody's got to do it

On the first one, I hope the frame rate wasn't 38 just by looking at a wall with a door in it....

yeah... the code probably sets a limit to the framerate so that it would run at the same speed on a faster system...

as for the screen shots... welllll... i dunno, i sorta expected more...

more lighting and shadowing...

more bumpmapping...

but in all fairness, these are WIP shots... and bumpmapping everything in sight is a real pain (i've tried in DBPro), and we did get to see an example of a mock outdoor implementation...

... so, i guess i'll wait to see what's next.
