okay...my friend made me some models in Doga CGA...then he "saved" them (that's what he said i hope he used save and not export)...anyway when they came to my computer by CD i found them in the format "atr"...i can't find anyway to open this with DoGa...yet he says he saved them like that...

i could just tell him to export them to .x but it'd take two weeks at least to make the transer again (because of complications it took two months this time!)

please somebody help!

.atr files have something to do with texturing (palettes). i looked all over in doga and found this under "save palettes to file":

Right, atr is short for attributes. ALL DoGA L3 models are saved as L3P files. So, your friend only sent you the pallete entries and not the models themselves.

Sorry about the slow reply, new location and hours means less time for me to visit the forums.

BTW, if you want to read the ATR files (out of curiosity) you can open them with notepad. Nearly all files in DoGA are plain text files with the exception of images.

I almost never use the save palette features since the L3P files include that information. When you make a model and try to exit, DoGA will ask you to save the file. So, the data is probably not lost, but just needs to be found. Check the dogacga\data directory. The files are pretty small and your friends should be able to send the L3P files zipped up in an e-mail.

Worst case scenario: If he has MSN, we can set up a remote assistance session and I can walk him through it.

My brother once put a shortcut to something, and burned it to a CD with it being the only thing on the CD.
