Charles Darwin, a British naturalist, published "On the Origin of Species." It was the paper in which he explained his theory of evolution through the process of natural selection.

I think we should have a Alfred Wegener day. Darwin got really really popular, but Alfred was ostracised and died considered a fraud. We should have days to celebrate the geniuses who aren't glorified in all our science books.

He proposed something very similar to reality, and far more accurate than the static continental theory. He also came up with lunar craters being caused by impact. Smart guy.

Actually, Darwin was a Christian till his death; though he pretty much said the Bible was myth by the end of his life, he never revoked his religion or the idea that the world was ultimatly created by god.

Unless I am missing something, my friend Google says Darwin day is his birthday, the 12th of February. Erm. Then again did anyone actually say that today is Darwin day. Aha.... confused....

Who the hell celebrates Darwin day anyways? Pretty positive it isn't us, and he was born here. That or we don't give a damn

Funny thing them moon craters... In 'The Man who Sold the Moon' which I recently read, it said something about the craters not possibly being caused by impact of space debris.. Because for example.. by calculation it stated, one of the craters would have had to have been caused by a super tiny comet traveling at a speed that would have blown up the moon...

I wonder if it's true, however, being a sci-fi and all the author could have pulled it out of his arse.. and I've not seen any google info on it.. Makes ya think
