Really you should be using the CD version not the trial, however copying the Compiler directory won't work.
This is what you need to do:
Copy these to disk:
[DBP]\Compiler\Certificates
[DBP]\Compiler\TGCOnlineFiles
[DBP]\Compiler\setup.ini
[DBP]\Launch.exe
[DBP]\Editor\dbp_config.dll
Those are the files you'll need to update from Trial 5.3, I'd strongly suggest downloading the latest trial; but not really paramount.
Next thing to do is to go: Start > Run... > 'RegEdit'
Find -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dark Basic\Dark Basic Pro
Right-Click on that Directory > Export
Name it something like DBPAuthenticate.reg or something
Now on your dad's machine, copy across the files onto a FRESH Trial Installation (make sure you remove & delete your original attempts). Then double-click on the .reg file and Accept the pop-up.
Boot up DarkBasic Professional, and it should know be fully authenticated.
Thought I'm not entirely sure if TGC will want everyone to know that.
