hi all im a complete newbie when it comes to programing and was wondering which you thought is the better for a learner blitz or dark.

i have checked blitzs gallerys and the quality of games are very good, with superb lighting effects and graphics...
with dark i find very fun and playable games which dont have the level of graphics that blitz does.

(as you can tell i love graphics lol )

thanks

mooba!

Well, you're asking in a Darkbasic forum, so chances are you're gonna get a biased answer (or the usual 'download the demo's and try them both out for yourself')

This sig has been dullified!

could be just me...but i dun think this topic will be very fond of. in general, graphics is only as good as the programmer can code it, it doesnt matter want engine it is. Just d/l the demo and try.

Where is the Blitz showcase?, I'd like to see it.

You can get awesome graphics in DBPro including shaders.

Check the showcase for "Roomwar" it has pretty good graphics.

http://blitzbasic.com/gallery/gallery.php

No actual game downloads, but a nice set of screens of some Blitz games.

Edit- I use both BB and DB, and if your a n00b to programming, then i would say DarkBASIC.

You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. He looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't **** around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that god was having trouble with.

DarkBASIC has a simpler syntax. It's basically easier.

People say it has really bad bugs but I've never come across any, the rotation system is a bit hard to understand (BUT IT DOES WORK PROPERLY). EZRotate is free and sorts this out.

DBPro runs DX 9, B3D runs DX 8.1 so it can't do the better shaders etc. Won't really affect most people though.

Check all of these out:

I world - GTA like game
Newton - Amazing Physics
Open source community FPS
Unnamed - Space RTS
Firewall - Very nice RTS
Suncrusher - Really nice space game
Super Tito - Really good cartoony 3d platform game

I couldn't find links for

Duo
Roomwar
Operation Invasion Evasion
Roswell Racer

They're all great as well.

I thought B3D ran off of DirectX 7?

Since both products have free trial downloads, try them both out and you'll be sure to discover which one is best for you.
