Try VANSeam, it's somewhere in the DBC showcase.

BTW, nice choice in avatars!

Last time I saw you, you said the same thing and it's true.

Second, I have VANSeam.
Is there anything else you know of?

There are a couple out there, but recently I have started playing with Gimp. It is a free painting program that has a lot of options and I think plugins. There is also a scripting language thaht goes along with it for creating new procedures if needed. It supports layers and transparencies, and can be used to generate grey-scale version of images if needed to heightmaps. I have been pretty impressed with it so far.

Hope that helps.

Gimp and Wood Workshop are awesome programs.
Wood Workshop makes wood textures and you can change them to however you want. They look like real wood.
I suppose you aready know about Gimp. I'm just saying the newest version is 2.

Just to say, if anybody is using truespace, you can paint your objects directly, and it will save with the object.

Do you have any of the Adobe Photoshop products? I use Elements Version 2 and it's got a lot of texture-type stuff in it.

It's included in all the Redhat Linux releases but I seem to remember it might not installed by default.

If it's not, you could just use the RPM manager to install it.

You should check out the texturing options you've got right at your fingertips then. I think you'll be pleased. I went into the PSE help and searched for textures and kind of hit the motherload:

Using the Lighting Effects filter
Sketch filters
Textures effects
Render filters
Brush Stroke filters
