I'm am a newbie to this forum but not to DB and to 3D modellers -
hi y`all - hope you guys llike me.

Yes, over a few years I've managed to raise my level of
desparation beyond the Richter scale. Now I can honestly say -
I AM DESPARATELY IN NEED OF A DECENT, FREE (NO LIMITATIONS) 3D
MODELLER AND ANIMATOR (latter is VERY important) THAT EXPORTS
TO .X FORMAT AND WORKS PERFECTLY WITH DB CLASSIC (whew)!!!
But this would be an understatement.

PLEEASE PLEASEE HEEELLPPP MEE! HAVE MERCY ON MY GAMING SOUL PEOPLE!!!

Sorry for dramatics - regular comic here.

(For my life's story on 3d modeller experience - very gruesome -
see below)

For when they said I couldn't, I did...

Gamespace light is good there are a couple of limitations though.
You can only save models with a max of 650 polys and if you texture theres a watermark.

Failing that theres Truespace3.2 without any restrictions.

I've tried JT Edit and when ever i create bones, the object just disappears!

Since free is a requirement, try Metasequoia LE for making the models and Cyberdelia for animation, you can find the links in my meesage in the modeller sticky post.

My life story on gaming modelers:

Pre-Autumn 2000: got 1st glimsp of DB in pcgamer
Autumn 2000: got DB demo in PC gamer; got DB later
January 2001: Just understood DB language; figured out needed something called ".x" files which contained models
January 2001: Foolishly tried to save DB files as .x format
February 2001: gave up all together; cold phase began
September 2001: restarted using DB; cold phase lapses
Sept-Dec 2001: tried helplessly to creat good game using existing models - no luck - all games failed
Jan 2002: new cold phase began
July 2002: cold phase lapses; discovers meaning of "3D modeler"; search began; cold phase lapses
August 2002: downloaded Zmodeler
September 2002: finds out models can't be viewd in DB; one face disappears; later discovers meaning of normals
September 2002: learns how to create ready models
September 2002: attempts new game
Early-October 2002: game fails
November 2002: downloads 3d canvas - no MSI - downloads MSI - no .x format - gets yelled at for 180$ inet bill
December 2002: attempts new game using zmodeler; 3rd cold phase
June 2004: cold phase lapses; new gaming enthusiasm; makes first ever successful game without making models (credit to db's free 3d resources)
August 2004: searches for countless 3d modellers now driven for WITH ANIMATION
August-Now 2004: downloaded JT Edit, DB modeler, winconv3ds, 3d exploration etc... no success

so you see my desparation - I NEED A WORKING ANIMATING 3D MODELLER STUDIO PPPLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEE!

Thanks

If you don't mind doing a bit of programming, you can actually use DBC as an animator. Check out the help for the "APPEND ANIMATION" command and look for example code #24 or #26. They animate a model by rotating limbs, as opposed to bones. You can do the same.
