Hey all, I'm looking at getting into business.. I won't discuss here what it is but some of you may know what it's about..

I don't want to sound like I'm advertising it

Would you buy a product or service from a business called "Winterlimb"

Is it catchy? Icky? Stupid?

I'm not looking for suggestions.. just opinions

Hrmm seems quite cool, depending on the product I would buy yes, But then again, I just like unusual names and things, like my argument with my friends about how a sports car make with a llama logo would be cool But Yeah, I'd buy something.

Winterlimb is an ok name(pretty catchy), but I dont look at the name, I look at the products.
(edit:read it wrong I should get glasses)

well it's a service.. so it's harder to show people if it's a good service or not So ya gotta have a decent name to get your foot in the door^_^

For the record it's Winterlimb, rather than Waterlimb.

Hmmm, Winterlimb seems ok, but what I think would add a touch to my heart, and actually spiff up the name is:

Winterpaw...

You have to have some cats in there somewhere... Try things with paw in it.

Yeah, it stuck in my mind big style. I remembered that film with Guy Pearce where they all eat each other. And it was in the snow. And it made them really invulnerable. Which was cool.

As much as it may have a negative connotation for some of you horror movie watchers... I think it may have a positive impact on my base market. Being a wintery state and all

What I'm trying to get are local businesses and people first, and then online customers as they come, either by finding them, or them finding me by word of mouth..

I think as Travis P suggests, it's unique. As Mikey says, it's unusual. People won't mistake my name for another's, and they will think of winterlimb when they associate the service I offer with a business.

I realize the threat of people thinking of severed limbs may be a problem, but in reality, I don't think people would turn away because they think we're selling henchmen

so here's the question.. Is it unique enough to make you want to know more about it?

[edit] I refuse to make this topic an advert, and I won't be contacting any of you personally about it if you reply I simply want honest answers so I can find a good name

if u want to stick to a type of name that is similar to what you are thinking of then how about something like

"snowmart"

Winterlimb is not really a store name but of course its your business.

Perhaps talk to a marketing firm or someone in the marketing area, the name will really dictate the logo and insignia as well as the overall look of the business in its media.

Winterlimb would be a nightmare for a advertising director like myself to create a corporate image.

allthough snowmart would be a cute little store icon with heavy snow on its roof as an example for an image or corporate ID.
the little windows can depict warmth inside and the symbolism of that generates a warm fuzzy feeling when viewing the media, and hence gain trust in the customer who thinks they are nice n warm n cozy if they shop from you.

Btw I registered a company just recently and Im one of the Directors, no more sole trader for me woohoo!

avoid the limb component, its just an opinion from someone in the industry who now commands a minimum of $35k for a job.

ask yourself if you can identify with the name.?

well.. I'm actually going to tag on my service to that name.. but I'm registering it simply as that name, so I can tag on or change it later on but keeping the base name the same

IE.. Autumn Limb xxx and xxx.

That's how the public would see it.

And when someone says, I use autumn limb... well, there's no mistaking my business with another's.. Though it may not be in the name what we offer, but who here knows that 'conoco' offers gas or that "leever's" is a grocer?

I don't think it's generic, autumn limb...

Perhaps I'm missing something?
