After more false starts than my old car, I think I may be in a situation to finish development of a game. Yes that's right folks, after 18 months of messing about with spheres on matrices, I've finally developed more than 5% or so of a game ...

Unfortunately, while my modelling isn't too bad, my texturing is teh suxx. If anyone's interested (perhaps for practice?) I'll model and fully UV some ships, and if a kind (talented) soul would texture them for me, that'd be nice. Infact, I may just put the files up on my site and then anyone can have a bash. I don't really want to form a team, because there's next to no chance I'll actually finish this bloody thing. Depending on the quality of the work, I may pay the person (is $10-$15 too cheap?)...

I'll post some screenies in a minute or two ... just want to test out some stuff.

EDIT -- found out how to link images ... enjoy

Very nice looking screens. I might have a bash at texturing your models if you put them up for download.

Totally remodelled that awful player ship and started getting the texturing done to some mediocre standard.

The standard of the texture has been upgraded from "mediocre" to "acceptable" I've also included it in a shot of "the garage" as it's known. At various points in a level, you'll be able to pay a visit to this place and upgrade your ship.... if you've got the cash. I can't seem to get sphere mapping to work on the cockpit of the ship (it's a separate object, if you compare the first and second picture). If anyone's got any tips - please post

:update:

... ok a seemingly very small update, considering there's only one screenie, but a screenie tells a 1000 lines of code.

I'm almost completely satisfied with the enemy scripting. I can make enemies shoot, turn, change speed ... all with a formatted string. I've found a bunch of enemy models which may or may not remain placeholders, depending on how well my attempt at modelling goes.

I'm looking into making the backgrounds more interesting somehow. Suggestions are welcome, and here's my quick knock up of a giant space station which could be the setting for one of the levels...

It would be great, though, if you went beyond space backgrounds and used some low-altitude scenes as well. The good part about it is you can slip in some fancy camera movements in between scenes Layer Section games were good at that.

I spelled "disappointment" wrong. Pahintulutan ang di-inaasahang nakakahiyang pagkakamaling dulot ng kamangmangan. Have at you.

I have actually thought about doing this. It's a possibility with the terrain system. One problem I'd need to overcome is the size restriction on the terrain; I can't have 10 minutes worth of landscape. I need to stitch together a whole bunch of terrains.

Anyway, I'll start with space though - I'm making good progress with the space media...
