I was having trouble keeping track of all of the models that I managed to collect on my hard disk. Some were models that I had made and others were downloaded from assorted websites and came with with various license conditions (that I obviously wish honor).

Keeping track of all of that information was getting to be a pain in the neck! So I sat down and wrote a little VB program that lets me keep track of all of this information and also helps me categorize models so I can find the ones I want quickly. This program also puts all of the model files into a single handy database, thus clearing up the hard drive clutter. I've only been doing this a short time and have managed to collect a bazillion models, so if you've been at this for any amount of time, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Since I went to the effort to create it I thought I'd just drop it out here for everyone to use. The distributable is 2.2MB so I can't simply attach it here, so instead I've attached a screen shot. If you want it, just e-mail me and I'll send you the program.

sounds usefull but is there a auto scan disk for models? as finding them by hand might be a lil time consuming

Well no not yet, even if there were, you'd still need to comment and categorize the models by hand. That's why I developed this. I saw I was getting upwards of 500 models hanging out and keeping track of where each one came from was a pain. So I bit the bullet and shoved the existing models in by hand and now use this while downloading from here on out.

For all of you who requested a copy of this software, be advised I found a sneaky little bug. If either the model file or the thumbnail file are zero length, the program will bomb. No data is lost if it crashes though. I've since fixed the bug. If you want the updated code, just drop me another e-mail.
