Hi it looks like an good start but maybe you should try to find or make some better textures?
They dont blend together so good in the scene if you know wath i mean.
dont take this wrong its meant as good feed back.

Thank you guys for all your comments.

So do you think I should -

A. Filter textures a little bit to be more yellow, so they kinda blend in with the sand and make this a dominant color. So the textures and models will not stand out that much.

B. Have more different textures.

C. Larger size textures. Current 256x256.

What you mean by better textures A, B or C?

Thank you.

Is there one for sand? I don't see it. The closest I see is flagstone. What's the name of it?

Thanks.

@Raven - will try that..

@ALL -

I switched my own collision to NGC v3.01 and got almost 100% increase in speed

I went from 18 FPS to 29-34 FPS

This is with 7 AIs and 7 WORLD objects.
Now I can double my state machine AIs

@Raven: Tried sandstone, it looks nice and sharp but too unrealistic, it's like whole place made of rock

I'm going to work on some better sand textures, I understood that more detail in the sand is what people want

I'm also in the process of putting huge maze in that main palace

Well sandstone is a good starting point, not necessarly the end point.
I think with a nice noise across it, it would look better., or failing that type 'desert images' into a search engine (make sure to spell it right heh) and checkout what it comes up with.

Doing some research on arabic architecture will also help.

Thank you for the effort! This looks VERY good. I don't know how it will look as an actual ground texture but looks very nice tiled on my desktop

WOW! Just noticed the second one, it looks even BETTER!
How do you do that? Are these made with 3D models or they just some Photoshop filters at work?

Yes, I'm trying to find out what looks better. That texture in latter screens shots is actually a part of real sand picture (desert plain).
But to use real picture you need to change it little bit becuase real pictures usually don't look good

I found some nice pictures on goodle which I'm using as a reference to create my sand.

The building are also modeled on arab architecture, but I want to create my own world - alway wanted to design my own buildings

Thanks guys for your comments check out new stuff for build 1.84 I updated the first post.

Thanks ... I made the textures in texturemaker.. If you require me to try making anything else similar, or try something a bit different i can give it a go.. Just post askin for it and i'll try to do it... Not great with road textures and such, but textures like wood/the ones you saw above and a few others i can do pretty decently.

@Merix: Thank you. I'm going to test them tonight with my ground model to see how they look and then it will be easier to tell you what direction to go.
So you are a professional artist or just a hobbyist?

I spent almost 20 hours on weekend perefecting the models, textures, engine.. I hope I can finish this game..

Just a hobbyist

Bought the super game creators pack a couple years ago.. Cshop, texture maker, 3d canvas shop, darkbasic pro and darkmatter...

Never got too comfortable with canvas shop.. Cshop and texturemaker i'm a bit better in, as for darkbasic.. i consider myself right around intermediate(but maybe not quite).

I've created a few different textures though, a red and blue gassy type texture for a planet etc.. I just like fiddling, i can usually get things right by doing so.

Ps - hope you get that game finished on time too

[Edit - I also noticed that the texture i gave you is pretty dark.. So i'm not sure how good it'll look as a ground texture too, worth a try though i guess.. I can always try to make one that's a little lighter...]

There is no time limit but I have other nice projects I want to do and usually I jump from one to another. This time I decided to finish it

That's alright, I can photoshop it..

@Merix

This is very nice cement texture, I would say it a little bit plasticy but pretty good

I can use some concrete/blocks/cement/bunker textures

I meant Concrete Blocks (like bricks only made of concrete).
Bunker is just a concrete with some ridges or groves in it like every 1-2 feet.

I need a concrete texture that will tile without showing it is the same texture on huge area like a wall..

I like the far right one the most on the last picture..

I'm curious, why is it stretching the texture and not tiling it across.. The textures i posted were seamless(i believe)
