what are the spirals supposed to be? please don't say black holes

I like the sun in the upper left corner, esp. the lense flares. The spirals also confused me a little. I think they would be really good hurricane textures on a planet surface if you beefed up the width of their cores, maybe overly an Adobe difference cloud layer or something...

Yeah cool! Maybe you could add some glow in galaxy's centers to make them more realist. Also, you can make lens flares with various colors. Look there:

Neat and should work as a static background. Since the lens flair is fixed, not very useful for a sky box or sphere.
