Quote: "All I know is, I love blowing out peoples intestines, severing limbs and decapitating innocent civilians in video games. When I see a real video of some militia in africa hacking some guy with a machete, I feel physically sick.
The distinction between reality and play is very clear for me. I think you have to be sick or thick to drawn any strong relation."
Heh, yet for those volleying that computer games/films cause the violence they will never understand the distinction.
While a game/film/tv show, can cause children to immitate acts they see; this is a part of growing up, kids immitate things to learn. If a child is playing something deemed unsuitable then that isn't the developers fault, but the fault of a system which isn't working.
Parents, Government, and Store are quick to blame everything except themselves. If a game does cause something for someone to go out and mimic not being able to distinguish between reality and fiction then this will happen regardless. A game is mearly a trigger, it isn't the loaded weapon.
You know what I find amusing is the fact that Power Rangers caused more deaths through mimicing, than all of the computer games blame in total. Yet while Carmageddon and such were banned for a short while, Power Rangers has continued to show for years, without any retributionary 'we want this banned' action.
While I'll whole heartidly agree about banning Manhunt (seriously I finally got to play it, and even I'm a lil appauled by it, which is saying something) .. there are a number of games that I believe just need stricter guildline enforcement.
