I am trying to learn how to make 3d models to put in my game. I tried alot of programs but wings 3d seemed the easiest to me.
My image looks like this in wings3d

edit: I can't figure out how to put the image of the house up so u have to download it, sorry
you can also see the house here: http://www.freewebs.com/iamverystupidd/house.htm

but in dark basic the whole house is brown like the roof.
How do i make it so that the house looks like how it looks in wings3d, i want the walls blue and the roof brown. This is the house from the wings3d tutorial.

I don't know why it looks like there is triangle shaped holes on the sides of the door because it does'nt look like that in darkbasic or on the regular screen in db.

I am using dark basic classic, please help me
Casn u also please tell me how to add a image to this

I cant help you, but i can say this.. Next time you upload a file, make sure it's saved as a JPG, much smaller, and people will like you a whole lot more for it. For the dialup users who want to help you, it takes forever to download 970kb file, as small as it is.

Just a word of advice.

You have to UV map it in order for the textures to work. You should get Lithunwrap, its free and it works. Hope i helped.

it says my model has no uv cordinates,
i made the model in wings3d and then i exported it to .3ds and then i used dbconv to make it into a .x file to use in my game, lithunwrap doesn't suport .wings files so i had to use the .x file but i think because i converted it it must of lost the uv cordinates, what should i do

thanks for the link to get lithunwrap

If its the same as UUwrap and I think it is just select all then
use box unwrap it will then give your model UV coords.

If you cant get on with Lithunwrap try Tattoo it lets you paint directly on to your model,it still requires that your model has
UV coordinates though if Wings lets you save the .obj format it should work ok.

it says i have to setup the uv cordinates before i can paint on to it but i don't know how to do that

i don't know if i can give my model uvcords in wings before i export them into a .obj file because i only started using wings today and the house was the first 3d model i have ever made.

If i do texture the object when it is in a .obj file how do i get it into a .x file to use it in the game i'm making in dbc

If I were you I'd try Deled its an easy modeler and it allows you to put textures on your model.

Yes

Yes

...and Yes

Click the object you want to UV Map, right click, and then click UV Mapping, then split up the faces into your UV Mapping groups. When that's done, right click, unwrap -> unfold, and it'll unwrap a nice texture outline for you that exports with your model. Easy.

Cheers,
Preston

[PS] Assign your groups wisely, Wings3D tends to add creases where two different groups meet when you export your model if you don't assign your groups wisely. Might want to practice a bit.

i tried deled but i didn't like it. So i did more research and found out how to do the uv maps in wings 3d and i made another model to be used in my game and i textured it. It's a snowman, it's very basic but it's the first model i made without a tutorial and it's the first model i ever did the
uv map thing,

thanks everyone for helping me
