Last year I created a thread about what dark basic resolutions you'd like to achieve during 2004.

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=22428&b=2
Quote: "Good to see all these great resolutions. By next year I'll have to dig up this post and see how many of us are successful."

Well, I failed in finishing a matrix editor, but I have some webspace. Also though, I've become a significantly better programmer throughout 2004 with DBP.

So lets have it (Unless they're secret ), what are your Dark Basic resolutions for 2005!

Me first.

1.) Landscape editing program.(This includes a solid matrix editing program, as well as being able to multi-texture!)

2.) Number 2 is a secret project, invovling a fighting-like game currently in project.

3.) Bring Curved Basic back to life.(A current W.I.P)

4.) Mess with FPSC and make a FPS.

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

Well, I promised myself I'd learn what memblocks are. I did so

For 2005 - finish a programming language of sorts, and make a DBPro game that is not a shooter (it seems that's the only thing I'm good at! Although I may resurrect that motorbike game I did in 2003 )

I'm going to release the best game that has ever been made in DBPro.
No joke.
It's going to be commerical quality but freeware.

As soon as I get my prize I'm going to learn about shaders.

Wow, I look at that thread, and I realise I failed miserably on my dbp new years resolutions. Well, they're a bit more realistic now:

1) Move away from Dark Basic Pro and go to C++ Full Time

The only reason I use Dark Basic Pro anymore is because I like to program mesh convertors for my OpenGL engine real quick, and Dark Basic Pro is a bit quicker to program in than C++ is.

Cheers,
Preston

10) Get a reliable web host. (100WebSpace is looking good so far)
9) Finish and release a game. (probably not my RPG project, as that's taking forever just to get a demo working. )
8) Figure out how NDB Physics works
7) Upgrade my computer
6) Try working with memblocks
5) Try to learn Flash
4) Take over the world with a DOS-installing virus made in DB. j/k
3) Beg, plead, and kiss Lee's...feet for patch 5.8
2) Finish my schoolwork (it's not hard, it's just boring! )
1) Try to learn C++ (are there any books you guys recommend?)

2.) Unveil top secret PHP application
3.) Accomplish neat, simple, addicting game using physics in C#
4.) At least start WordTrix-Mobile
5.) Release GameBasic
6.) Learn assembly language

Yeah, but the finishing part isn't my problem. It's feeling it is ready to actually be released. I've a number of projects I've finished, but I don't feel are complete.

Really need to learn to release something regardless of how ready I feel it is.

Ditto...

Its's like a drug, everytime I start doing something I say "I wish this we're as easy simplistic DB (or QB sometimes )". I tell ya, they stick nicotine in it.

2) Is easy once you are one with 3D. Start by learning what the XYZ axis are. Then how polygons work. You should now know 3D. And then how UV mapping works and what UV coordinates are. Now you know how polygons are textured.

Here's a screenie of an FPS I started 2 days ago called SOLO. By this time next year it will have definate improvements (well, it can't get any worse, haven't even worked out how to get strafing in, boy do I fell like a n00b.) Anyway, fell free to think of something particularly n00bish to do if I don't manage to stick to my resolution.

EDIT:: Ignore the attachment, just look at this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/code2kill/SOLO.jpg thanks.

Attend the next DBConference (if there is one). Now that I am living in England I can finally get to one.

Increase my reading:posting ratio.

I spend at least an hour a day reading the forum posts but rarely contribute anything myself.
So in 2005 I will try to show my face a little more.
