Hey,

I've just remembered, my dad said that coca-cola made santa red and then everybody started to copy and draw santa with red clothes on.

You see, santa use to be green back then than red!

Also, dont forget! Christmas is in 2 days!

santa claws used to look like the grinch untill coca cola had its way with it.

christmas, well the holiday, was originally a pagon tradition until england took on the christian religion but because they couldnt just drop the holiday they made it into jesus' birthday.

Any spelling mistakes are totally In tensional.

That's acutally an urban myth.

Santa Claus used to be lots of different colours (red, brown, green, blue) etc.

The red one was the favourite and was becoming the only colour when Coca Cola released their ad in 1924.

I suppose they could have tipped the balance but they definately didn't invent the red santa.

Santa clause is just another example of how Christmas has turned into a corporate sales fest. Now days, the holiday is all about economics, seeing how many suckers they can create, and how rich you can get.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

I haven't noticed any difference.

I think Santa was mainly green in the past, but he gradually turned red.

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

But then they wouldn't be poor any more.

He'd have to run in and beat it out of them, then throw it back in again...

He's probably still there, at the first house he chose.

Santa is a spider beast monster with 8 candy cane legs and rows and rows of razor sharp teeth.

He lives in space gaining power from black energy and comes to earth every Christmas in an attempt to destroy us all.

A quote...

Santa Claus has existed since the fourth century and is known in the civilized world as Saint Niklaus. He had been the Bishop of Myra in Lycia (Middle East). While Niklaus was a priest, a greedy tavern owner had killed three innocent children. Nicolas brought them back to life and has been the protector of children ever since. He's also the patron saint of fisher and boatsmen. Saint Niklaus has always been depicted as a jolly old man with a white beard and a
red coat and hat. His day is celebrated on 6 December every year and
children have always looked forward to Santa Claus day, since he would
come to schools and homes and bring sweets to all children who had well
behaved during the year. Santa Claus had moved to North America with
all the emigrants, but since in North America, all winter religions, beliefs
and customs have been melted into one big commercial affair, Santa Claus'
celebrations were fused with Christmas business. Coke then did the ultimate
PR ripoff and recuperated Santa Claus for their own profit. Which
is just about tolerable if they would not pretend that they invented Santa...

santa was invented by coke, the figure we see as santa that is, the fat jolly man in red and white with a big beard, however the tale of santa is different in many places, like st nick for instance, he is santa, but a foreign non coke version. St nick is green and white i believe, and there is another form of santa somewhere else, but christmass is called christmas because of jesus dying or living or one of the two, not caus eof santa, santa was just added to bring a sign of goodwill to others with gifts like the threewise men, btu dummed down for children to give them a happy story. personally i would rather a pirate monkey that travels with a french pirate teddy bear and a pirate mouse going from door to door on a wind up sail boat, bringing kids toys stolen from orphanage drives in exchange for attractive older sisters or younger mothers and beer, aswell as valuables, i guess attractive older sisters would count as valuable.

At last, somebody mentioned "the real thing", as Coca Cola would put it.

@ Ubberwidget robx: you should write a christmas movie, I love that idea , actualy Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus and in the UK (and maybe elsewhere but don`t know for sure) also replaced the far older pagan winter soltice celebrations with something more christian, back then the preists where more prone to compromise to get converts , it would have been easier to convince people they should adopt christianity if they got to keep the celebration they are used too.
