That looks quite good

I'm testing my map with some different textures from limefly.net.
I'll post new screens when I get it to look good.

EFX, did you use the pivot commands from my importer? Or using something else?

Because it's good, here is a critique of your door:

-Rivets should be made with a texture, not with mesh geometry. They won't be very visible as part of the mesh.

-The center lock piece is great, but other than that, the door is just two sliding blocks. Why not add a third piece on the top, or make the two sides more asymmetrical?

-The door frame is just a few blocks. It should be more interesting than that. Look at some of the doors in Unreal 2 for ideas.

Your work is progressing. Seems like you're at the point now where you can model everything you need, but you need more inspiration to work from. I've noticed in a lot of my own designs, there is something extra you need, where the mesh has a lot of details and flow, but it also all fits together and makes sense.

That door is cool but way overrated. It could use some more textures rather than the same generic grey one.

I kind of like that . Mainly because of the effect that the lighting has on it.

No one dislikes it, we are just judging his work on a professional standard, because he is good enough to.

Here. I've re-textured the first part of the map, and personally, I think it helps a lot. I still need to texture a lot, but I can see that it pays off.

Hope you like it(please comment).

Too many polys? That's rather on the low-poly side.

Is it necessary to post so many flat-shaded renders?

EDIT: And your city scenes from the previous page look fantastic. Although less a city and more of cubes stacked up on top of each other with a window texture.

Those beams look like they would collapse. Think about the way they distribute the weight.

It's a sci-fi game. Does it really matter? The way I see it is, if it is visually pleasing, then let it be, no matter how structurally insecure. But that's just my opinniom.

Dj's right. The Pearson Airport looks like it might collapse any minute, but it doesn't. Sci-fi architecture doesn't have to make sense.

I disagree. This tutorial makes a good point:
http://www.planetunreal.com/phalanx/tut%27s/tutorial_geo.htm

Having beams that rest on other beams at 45 degree angles, like the beams on the left wall, is probably the most ineffective way of bearing weight you could possibly design. They would break outwards and collapse if any weight were put on them. The beams on the ceiling just kind of hang there and look heavy, but don't support anything, because they come down from the wall, not up.

Josh thanks for the point you brought up.I never really took into consideration of weight and structure like your aiming at. Im going to look at the unreal tutorial there.Do you guys really think it matters from a players point of view guys? I understand what josh is saying, if a professioanl was to look at it and was looking for certain things then likely that would be true.I really didnt intend on the metal objects as being beams that are supporting, compared to the structure around it they reallt look weak.

It makes a good point but, is the player really there to enjoy the scenery and study it to make sure that it's going to stay up, or is he there to do some serious fragging?

In games, all it matters is that it looks good. Half the towers in Halo don't make any sense at all.

Man, some awesome maps floating around. So I decided to flurry-up some maps too... 'cause I don't want to be left behind.

This first one is a remake of the bulkhead-door I made earlier, using some suggestions from others:

Here are some pipes... completely modeled in CShop [like I'd do it any other way ]. I got the notion for these from the Leadwerks static meshes pack:

And here is basic design for a hallway with the support beams for the ceiling built into the walls:

Thanks for watching...
