Looks like it has good form so far. You mind posting a wireframe view of the model? I'd like to see how you've laid out the geometry. Just hope there aren't too many polies on the pants, as thats a very basic shape to recreate usually. Looks like you're okay though from what I can tell, but please post a wireframe view.

Inuyasha must be a character of some sort, anime perhaps? Even so, I'd take a look into making those feet bigger, unless this character has super baggy pants.

Nice work so far though.

There is a wireframe view below...the pants are suppose to be baggy so the feet do look small but it has 256 polys in the pants and feet...i hope the whole model will be somewhere around 1000 to 2000 polys. The above is in a different export so it's shiny..below is the actual model:

Thanx for the comment, although i am free hand modeling this because i can find a good pic to put in the background to model off of...i have to look back and forth to make sure i have it looking right... i hope the final model will be good...then i can post it on my site for downloads....(well i hope to model the whole crew of Inuyasha so it will be a character pack)

[Edit] - i can't find a good pic

Looks good, effective use of geometry. I see it's already triangulated, so this could be a very good low-poly model.

i try...this is my first character model though...so it might not be the best but it's easier to model this and make it look right then draw it and have pencil markings all over the paper...

NEWS:

I am starting to model the head...it's getting hard...heads are not my thing when it comes to modeling but I am trying my best. I have completed the pants and now for the head. I believe this model could be a low polygon model but I am not sure. Currently the head has only the face and it's comming around 200-300 polyes(lots of details). The hair won't be hard but it will cosume alot of polys. The upper torso will be done after the head so I'll have a pic of it in a couple of days...maybe.

if you wanna reduce the poly's in the head, all you gotta do is cut back on the detail, most of the detail will come out in the texture anyway. You can always balance it out,but if you're going for a large face use model its always best to have a high poly one. But with my models the faces wont move, only the expressions, so mine are low poly faces.

there look to be almost as many triangles in the feet as the legs. Also, there are tons of co-planner faced on the chest.

i make the my students in the 3d for gaming class i teach make a whole character using only 500 polys(triangles). they always impress me. it's a merciless poly count max but if you can achieve it adding another 500 polys later makes the model really cool.

thanx for the info Dr. Evil, although I really can't make a good character model under 500 polys, this is because I don't have 3D studio max. I have milkshape...which don't support spline modeling...which i would love to have. Oh for those of you up above... i am also starting on Kagome.

I use Maya actually (besides the point) and hardly ever use spline/nurbs modeling. I use 99% poly tools. I just think you have a lot of unneccessary polys in the upper half of the body(IMHO).Also, the legs aren't looking very animation friendly. There will be problems getting the mesh to deform properly with the current edge positions. But don't get me wrong it looks pretty good.

@Dr Evil: I have maya PLE but i can't find any exporters for .x files or any dbp compatible files. I don't intend on selling my games or models that i make in Maya PLE so i use it for learning purposes.

Just one thing, the arms seem a bit too long, if you imagin the character dropping its arms it looks like the would almost reach the feet.

that's just because it's a pic at a angle from above....so it looks like they'll drop to his feet.
