I have a megadrive emulator with about 2000 games - most of which suck compared to their SNES counterparts though, I think there's a good selection of emulators for the xbox - so the chances are that a snes emu disk is out there too.

Pricey, we all know that consoles can emulate other consoles if they have the power to do so.

NES on PSX full speed: http://imbnes.gamebase.ca/
Gameboy for PSX : http://agbe.gamebase.ca/
Sega emulator for PS2: http://pgen.gamebase.ca/
SNES emulator for PS2: http://psms.gamebase.ca/

So there you have it, I am pretty sure you can find one for xbox

Dreamcasts are awesome for emulation, NES is perfect, SNES is pretty good, Speccy is pretty good, but Mame is great - well for retro games like WonderBoy it is. Damn I miss the Dreamcast, about the only console that you can effectively download applications and run them without needing a mod chip installed. DCQuake is more playable than the PC version.

I´ve got 2 friends that have the same problem with thier ps2s and 1 friend that has the same problem with his Xbox as me. Though I haven´t heard any problems with the GC. My GC runs like a dream. I think I´ll be getting the revolution next generation then.

No. They can´t even read doble layer writable dvds let alone blu-ray.

X-Box can only read standard DVDs.
Xenon currently is in a flux, that I hope the speech later tonite will clarify.

There is a toss up right now between what the format will be and can hold.

Panasonic DVD-Ram, Toshiba DVD-HDD, or Sony Blu-Ray. No one is really sure to be honest.. and the problem is that they all are capable of different sizes.

DVD-Ram : 17GB (25GB Dual Layer, 50GB Quad Layer)
DVD-HDD : 15GB (25GB Dual Layer)
Blu-Ray : 25GB (50GB Dual Layer)

Whatever the format, it's going to hold alot. Question to, which really depends on the budget and how large Microsoft believes will be needed.

As a precaution, title being worked on here is currently using DVD-Ram (Standard 2-Layer) 11.5GB. Problem is the game is up to 2 Discs in size... so hope it's a larger of the forums.

Get the Crystal package, and then buy the Halos. The pack comes with Fable and Crimzon Skies(Fable's good, but not so much crimson skies).

I've had a PS2 for 2-3 years now and it still plays DVD's. The fan grill at the back seems to collect a lot of dust but so far this hasn't caused a problem. I wouldn't say no to an XBox but at the moment I'm interested in spending as little as possible, plus the fact that quite a few XBox games appear on either PC or PS2 sooner or later.

I suppose part of the decision depends on your situation. I've got a PS2 and PC so it's not like I'm going to miss many top notch titles by not getting a GC instead of an XBox whereas very few GC games (Zelda, Metroid etc) are multi-format. Ofcourse there's also the question of space, I have a very small desk that's used for my PC, PC games and pieces of useless junk that I hang on to for the sake of it, a very small set of draws that are only just big enough to hold a t.v. PS2 and N64 and a bookcase that's covered with PS2/N64/Gameboy games and a ridiculous number of free DVD's from PS2 magazines. So with my current situation I want a console that takes up as little room as possible, is cheap, and I know I'll be getting quite a few exclusive titles.

Finally, if I had the money (and the space) I would be perfectly happy with nothing more than an XBox and a copy of steel batallion.

To tell you the truth, I'm just glad I DON'T enjoy playng The Sims.

Hehe.. Space and lifting power
X-Box are heavy buggers, this said you actually seen the PS2-S yet? I mean I knew it was small... but DAMN!
You don't realise just how much smaller it is until you see it, remarkable. I like the heating solution on it too, the Logo strip looks pretty snazzy like a design feature but is actually constantly venting the heat from the CPU. Didn't realise this until I picked it up and was like 'OWH!'

Pretty surprised at it, can't wait to get Final Fantasy XI for it at the end of the month.. should save me waiting for the PC version that doesn't appear to be comming out anytime soon
