im really pizzed off at what i just found:

http://www.adequacy.org/public/stories/2001.12.2.42056.2147.html

what the hells the deal with this parent?!?!?!?!?

i spend more than 30 mins a day on the pc, i doubt my parents remember installing windows XP on the pc, and since when do u need a graphics card to hack other people?

and if i had AOL i know i'd tell me parents to change!!!!

i've never hacked or considered it, i find it extremely sad and immoral, but what this parent writes is just depressing!

i bet there are thousands of innocent kids out there that take punishment from there parents when they read bollox like this.

edit: i dunno what happened to the subject, but in between the <>'s i actually wrote "cursing inserted here"

You do of course know that this page is a joke right?

My favorite part of the whole page has nothing at all to do with the content, but actually the footer.

Quote: "The Adequacy.org name, logo, symbol, and taglines "News for Grown-Ups", "Most Controversial Site on the Internet", "Linux Zealot", and "He just loves Open Source Software", and the RGB color value: D7D7D7 are trademarks of Adequacy.org."

That's right folks, grey has now been trademarked.

What is the likelihood of that? If the parents are daft enough to not understand enough about computers to spot that as a fake, are they smart enough to find that site?

You have got to love the people correcting the bloke. Even after people tell them it *is* a joke. So, he got everything completely wrong? Hmmm. What a *dumbass* as they say? Erm, nope. Humour. Jokes. Funny. Ug.

And now I think I'll sell my Subaru Turbo effort, and buy a Vauxhall Nova 1 litre with a really big exhaust, bonnet air ducts, and massive Halford spoiler on the roof, cos it's miles faster innit.... see what I did there? And before someone states how useless these extras are to the car, then thats my point.

Cheers

Heh, I read an article about Doom the movie the other day. The Rock said it was called something or other, but then said the actors called it the big f**king gun when not filming. Noooooo!!!! They don't call it that in the film??????? God, not another T3 like 12 rating please....

Hahaha, this one was the best.

{sarcasm} Oh my GOD! I've never seen a computer in my life, and I'm getting angsty! I must be a dangerous hacker! This can't be! There's no other reason for this, is there? Should I go to Hackers Anonymous?{/sarcasm}

Yeah, it's a joke. But the guy really needs to put a disclaimer at the bottom. You never know who'll actually believe this junk.

I watched (the end) of Doom the movie the other day. It's one of those epic films like Star Wars or Lord of the rings, but the effects aren't as good.

That's got to be one of the most blatant satire articles I've ever read-- yet all those people still reply to it. Sad really...

yeah empty that line is a crackup

also this paragraph got me laughin

8. Is your son obsessed with "Lunix"?

BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War. It is based on a program called "xenix", which was written by Microsoft for the US government. These programs are used by hackers to break into other people's computer systems to steal credit card numbers. They may also be used to break into people's stereos to steal their music, using the "mp3" program. Torovoltos is a notorious hacker, responsible for writing many hacker programs, such as "telnet", which is used by hackers to connect to machines on the internet without using a telephone.

Your son may try to install "lunix" on your hard drive. If he is careful, you may not notice its presence, however, lunix is a capricious beast, and if handled incorrectly, your son may damage your computer, and even break it completely by deleting Windows, at which point you will have to have your computer repaired by a professional.

If you see the word "LILO" during your windows startup (just after you turn the machine on), your son has installed lunix. In order to get rid of it, you will have to send your computer back to the manufacturer, and have them fit a new hard drive. Lunix is extremely dangerous software, and cannot be removed without destroying part of your hard disk surface.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

Why are there so many links on that page? If it's one of those auto-advertising things, it's not working.

Quote: "BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War"

illegal hacker os - thats a load of bull

Quote: "If your son has undergone a sudden change in his style of dress, you may have a hacker on your hands. Hackers tend to dress in bright, day-glo colors. They may wear baggy pants, bright colored shirts and spiky hair dyed in bright colors to match their clothes."

lol

has anyone noticced that he starts off saying your child and then changes to he, not all hackers are male

Quote: "over-exposure to computer radiation can cause schizophrenia"

computer radiation?? i gather he is refering to crt monitors which give off less than 1% of what a microwave oven does (not sure on stat but it is about that)

Quote: "responsible for writing many hacker programs, such as "telnet""

telnet is a hacker app now - lol, the person who wrote this must be having a laugh, i mean talk about sterotyping

OMG, this was funny. Not only becuase of the jokes, it's because most parents are actually that thick headed. Ever have you parent see and pop-up and accuse you of putting spyware on the computer? And simple statements like, "Hackers tend to use linux for..." make them think Linux is an operating system for hacking. This is all very plausible to the uneducated parent.
