I'm currently animating my figure for use in my app using 3ds max.
When it comes to exporting it, what is the better file format to use; .3ds or .x?

I'd assume that .x would be better due to it's association with directx, though I may be wrong.

Anyone got any pros or cons for each?

check out www.bookandstay.com for some non-game related work of mine.

3ds doesn't work well with dbpro
x load quicker - though dbo loads the quickest

I've always gotten the best results from exporting to .3DS then converting with DBConv which is supplied with DBClassic.

ditto. although, if you have a bone based model, dbconv wont work properly, and u will have to export in x format.
