3 Dimensional Chat / exporting in 3ds max

when i export a 3ds max model as a .3ds and load it in DBC it only shows half of the model. even tho i have cloned, mirrored and grouped the model. is it only loading the half i made and ignoreing the mirrored bit? this probs makes no sense to anyone

try welding the two halves together

When you clone..you must choose COPY in the pop up menu..if you choose the INSTANCE or REFERENCE then you'll only see the original one in darkbasic.
if this dont help then try ataching your objects..
but i think if you just choose copy then you'll see both objects..i hope im right..if im not..then pls someone correct me

weld is under edit poly / mesh (can't remember) in vertex mode

try to get the tool 3dsconv.exe , it converts from .3ds to .x, works in dos mode and it is in the sdk of the directx9 (you have to search it or mail me at [email protected]) (about 300 kb)
The .x files is more compatible with dbpro.
And finally, the "copy" when you clone an object is a must, i'm experienced in 3dmax and i can say this: convert all your objects in editable mesh and delete all the history of the objects, avoid mirroring and when you have to scale or deform and object, select "XFORM" and then modify your object, finally convert it in editable mesh and delete its history.

It's probably the mirror function causing problems. I think XForm will modify the format to export correctly.
