Why doesn't this work? Shouldn't it make a shadow?

hide mouse
autocam off
sync on
sync rate 100

make object sphere 1,2
set shadow shading on 1

make object plain 2,50,50
xrotate object 2,90

position camera 0,20,-60
xrotate camera 20

do
x=x+mousemovex()
z=z+mousemovey()*-1
position object 1,x,5,z
