I have been working hard on Barricadium, and a lot of the game is now running. The game is being written in DB Classic. It does not slow down at all on my NVidia fx 5200, and there isn't much left that could cause it to slow down. So this should be a nice DB game.

Here's a hype screen.

Looks nice.

Are there going to be any wizzy effects like, say, DX-Ball or Z-Ball.
I can only put up with BALL MOVE >> BALL HIT BLOCK >> BLOCK DISAPPEAR for so long that's why I'm asking, so don't take offence. Please.

The fun part is that the game is for two players. You will soon realise when playing that there are a lot of tactics involved in a two player pong/breakout game. There are also a lot of varying game modes.

Magnets,Pinball bumpers,Bombs,and a lot more.

Special effects are also in there as well.

So, will this be Freeware or Shareware? I've only just heard about this.

It most likely will be Freeware.

There should be a demo soon. I am just adding a few more elements, most of the game is done. Some of the tidying up involves a few hours of artwork, and some programming that might be a bit time consuming, depending on how easy it is to implement into my engine. I started with a simple Pong engine from the codebase, but I realised later that I would have to program everything from scratch, because most Pong Engines do not have ball angles, or paddle aiming. Now that I have that working, I also need magnetism, and round bumpers.

Probably a couple of weeks for a good demo.

Looking good. I like the moody lighting but from the looks of the screenie the blue ball on the right is, in my opinion, mostly in darkness, were you planning on tweaking this or is it part of the gameplay?

The picture that I posted has some dark areas due to the way that the pictures are merged together on a single screen. The lighting in the game is quite even for both players.

Today I have drawn this Menu.

There will be music. I don't really like making music all that much. Offers are always welcome.

Hoping not to get slammed for saying this outside the Team Requests forum, what do you need? Genre-wise, I mean.

Something with metallic/crystal type sounds. Some effects that synthesise the sounds with fuzz and reverb. Catchy music.

Thanks!!!

I've updated the graphics again. Notice how the ball changes colour to your colour when it hits your bat. This shows you when you are scoring points by hitting the blocks with your own ball. It also shows you which bomb is activated later.
