Since the beggining of time, there was MATTER! But there was no life! The world is empty without life! So the creator gave the world WATER, and SO LIFE BEGAN.

Anyways, what I'm trying to ask is, will we be able to add water to the games? And if so, how realistic will it look? Will therebe transparency?

I think I heard there is water and believe it will have transparency. Try the FAQ or someone using FPSC may be able to advise further. Thats the best I can do.

There will not be water.
But there will be a sort of
FX file that we could use to
maby fake some kind of water.
Give stuff a wavy look.

Thanks Noldor for outlining that. I new I had read something about water and that was it I think. Its a kinda water thingy then.

If it looks OK from up top well thats half the batle anyway and I think there are ways to make it a reasonable fake - if it moves - thats a bonus too.

lol when you ask a question and the answer is no, what do you expect? Him to lie totally so you'd get disappointed that you can't do it when/if you get the EA version?

I doubt there will be water.. in the EA at least, there was a thread saying "no gravity" will not be possible, swimming in water is more or less the same. SO the answer is no You might beable to do shallow pools of water with trickery...

There is no "swimmable" water in the EA. However creating the visual appearence of water is quite easy since there is a 'water' FX file (which basically shimmies the texture around a bit ala. Quake). Combine that with an appropriate transparent texture and bob's your uncle.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a way to change the color of the water to green (for toxic slime) or red(for lava) within the creator or will I have to change the tecture another way?

Now is the winter of your discontent.

You'll have to edit the texture another way.

Or could you just apply the shader to the lava segment?

Take a look in the segment library under WW2\PLATFORM\LAVA and then switch pixel shaders to 1.X to see the lava FX effect in the test game. You can locate the file which specifies the ripple.fx file in segments\ww2\platform\lava\lava.fps. It is a simple text file which you can change easily. I would suggest however you copy the file and itd associated thumbnail BMP and rename them, then edit the copy. To change it water, change the TGA of the lava to the image of water, etc. In a similar way you can edit the acid decal in the entitybank. For those who really want to have fun, you can create your own copies of the FX files and tweak them to see what happens in your test game. For most of you guys, sit tight and I will try to get some water selections in V1. We had hoped for full scale underwater exploration, but more pressing features have been highlighted as more important. if I get many requests for water zones, I will add it to the feature request list.

hey Y'all,

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic had an interesting underwater simulation.
They lit the level with dark blue lights and put in bubbles. Access
to the level was through airlocks. The player spawned with an 'envirosuit' in the underwater level after going through the airlock, and movement speed was slowed.
I'm not sure if this would work for you, but just thought I'd offer
the suggestion.
