1. Created a test program and it worked fine yesterday. Come to compile & run again today without any changes at all and it creates errors when executing the exe !?. Error - 'Test1.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created'. I'll have to find this log.

2. Loading a program as a 'source' has problems then locating bitmaps/jpg's even though in the same directory. Loading as a project seems to cure this bug !?. Error - 'Runtime error 506 - Could not load image at line 137'......here is line 137 ! (just a comment and separating line)

`-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions ?. The old DB worked fine before this. I'm running Win2000 SP3 and DX8.1. Gforce 4 with latest drivers.

Can you post the source code that you are trying to run.

Also, you definately have DX8.1, not DX 9, and you definately haven't changed any drivers since the first compile?

NOBODY has a forum name as stupid as Darth Shader. I do.

The error report isn't always on the given line. There are some image formats that can't be loaded...

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

I have also seen strange errors pointing to remark lines. i.e. I had a remark in a TYPE definition, and it refused to compile until I removed that line...

Update.....

Yes DX8.1

I have now found it's - 'set display mode 1600,1200,16' causing the problem. Yet whatever I set it to (even 640*480) it still crashes. Remming out this line removes the problem, yet of course the graphics are now bitty.

I have even tried re-running the update, first time it crashed !. The second time it ran yet only seemed to update/replace a few files, the others it said were ok (shame it didn't replace them all).

I have also tried un-installing to re-install. Yet this also crashes ! (says a file is in use by another app even though it created it itself !).

I'm left with the following options me thinks...

1. Wait for patch 4
2. Remove the files and reg entries manually.
3. Update to dx9 ?? (though all other software runs fine is all res).

Any clues ?....hope the 'patch 4 team' are reading this - damn bugs make it annoying and not a joy.

Not heard about the IDE issue, will have a look for it...

Further update....

I appeared to cure my 'set display' prob by installing DX9. This no longer creates errors (strange). YET - I now get the same error when I introduce the line 'scroll object texture 2,-0.01,0.0'. This is madness !

Oh yes - found the error log - twas called drwatson32.log or something similar - the only usefull bit was `ntdll!NtWaitForMultipleObjects'...a clue me thinks for the folk at DB.
