I was trying to practice for the opening video for my game, would anyone think I had improvements after 3 months? Many people says that I need more improvements... (check "view" tab below)

I must say its quite a improvement.. mostly in materials though.
its a nicer render, better lighting and textures. The hair is falling more naturally as well as the cloth.

I like the electronic arm on the new one.. its quite a lot more detailed and render a lot better. The bump mapping on the sholder area of that same arm might be too deep and reflect too much light.

I liker her top less actually on the new one but somehow that was the best feature of the old.

Overall a nice improvment.. I dont know much about modeling, texturing or rendiering yet myself.. so I dont really have the experiance to start commenting on you.. though I did so anyway.

Good work!

I used 3dsmax 6.0 to everything in modeling, lighting, rendering... In image enhancement/modifications, I used Adobe Photoshop CS. Maybe I should start modeling another female character, since my job's almost done... (thanks for the comments anyway, but I'm still no match to 3dtotal.com's forum)

Very true. She and Mach's character are HUGE improvements over Daisy Duck, which is all we had when I was young.

Seriously though, Mach, those are awesome. I like the softer skin tones in your newer version of the girl, and the material in her clothing really does give a more realistic look. Great work...

Question is, would you date a girl with a robot arm? look at it. It's huge and dangerous looking!

@Coder_David: I'm not sure, but I think it's about more than 10,000. I'll look at my 3d model when I came back home.

@Celsius Zero: I'm not used with the term "hot" but I do like the girl I modelled, that's why I modelled her. (heheh)

@Los: No, I'm NOT gonna date a girl with a metallic arm lol. It's just my art.

I'll also try to modify her, because her hair isn't realistic enough... and her dress isn't complete...

That is ONE wicked model. how did u learn to model like that.

i also use 3d max from time to time but version 5 only. did u do it via NURBS, NURMS, or Splines?

i made a dragon using splines and it came out at about 100k+ pollies and by looking at your - awe inspiring, top of the class - model, u shouldn't be far off.

oh and another thing

don't supose u could give me a few tips *Nudge Nudge*

p.s. kind of reminds me of Final Fantasy 8...

@Coder_David: I checked out, my model has 125,000+ polys...

@DLS: I use "edit mesh" then meshsmooth. But the arm has no meshsmooth. I'm kinda not used to model with "edit poly" but maybe I'll try since it has more functions than "edit mesh".
Tips? well... I usually go to the forums of 3dtotal and drool all over the monitor (heheh) but that's how I observe how the modellers do their works (really). Always have basis (set viewport background) and copy the proportions of the body, if you're not contented then modify the model a little. I used Kwon Boa's face for the face of my model and edited it a little (although I have no side view basis for it). The basis for the body was taken from http://www.fineart.sk/index.php?cat=16. Just practice, then soon enough you don't know that you're improving. (I wish I could improve more...)

Mach, you are truly doing outstanding work. It seems to me that your poly count is very high, but then the quality of your work is very high, and so I guess that the two balance out.

Thank you for sharing your work with us, but most of all thank you for posting about [3dtotal.com]. I just had a look at it and it has an awesome number of outstanding tutorials. Just what I have been looking for!

Hi... I'm back... I was working on another model (which isn't human) and planning to make a short video of it with the girl I made earlier. Here's a screenshot (see view)

Although it's not yet finished, because it lacks details. (compared to armored core nexus)

absolutely stunning models, especially the hair and cloth on the girl are very realistic, i'd expect the render time to be a few days to get renders like that though lol (seriously, how long does it take to render one of those pictures?)

@mm0zct: It's already written... 3 hours, 13 mins.

The texturing of the mech is almost done. legs, back and lower arms are the remainings

Another pic... the duel look of the 2. Although the setting is wrong... it's temporary.

And a small screenshot showing the upper body almost finished.

And a comparison of dark and light setting (the same as the pic above)

I need to decide whether the setting of the video is dark, light, or inside the hallway. The hallway is already planned but I think it's not a good setting, so I still need to decide... Please help me out, Whether dark, light, or hallway.

I'll be continuing the modelling in the girl's modification, weapons of the mechs, animations (IK stuffs), etc.

Although... Any help? just to decide whether the setting is dark, light, or hallway???

the girl model is pretty cool too....but...theres something i dont like, i think her eyes should be green, her metallic arm is too rough, should be more like the mech arms texture/mesh, and her eyebrowns dont know but i think they should be darker, thiner, longer and more definide, this isjust my opinion, if you dont like it its not my problem, sometimes in these forums we cant post bad critics withouth being flamed, hope u dont get me wrong,

regarding the question on lcoatio, bright seams cooler to me, cheers, great work!

@mustrix:
Bright you say??? hmm..... I'll think of a good setting for that... Maybe it's good to have a bright setting to see the details of the mech more.
About the girl, I still have to modify it like I said earlier because at first, I thought it's good already, but when I look at it again after 2 weeks, the eye's are too far away to each other and looks like a tiger's eyes when viewed on semi-top, the eyelashes aren't emphasised enough, the hair looks dumb, and on top of that, SHE GOT NO EARS!!!! AAAGH!!! I still have to model that dumb ears because I'm not satisfied with her hairstyle. (I want it to look like FFX rikku's...) And the metal arm's texture aren't concentrated (I just used UVMap>Cylinder) So I have to re-texture the metal arms. The eyebrows... I'll think about it. Thanks for the comments anyway...

I've posted in 3dtotal forum too, http://www.threedy.com/site/forum/showthread.php?threadid=28486&goto=newpost
Check it out if you want...

And I might be delayed to my modelling process because our com ain't working properly...

I would say that Wiggett is correct about the arms--there should not be a gentle curve at the interior part of an arm bend, at least not from that visual angle. Aside from that, to me and from what I can see from this pose, everything looks correctly proportioned.

She needs at least somewhat of an hourglass figure. From that angle she appears to cut a straight line from her armpit to her thighs. The mesh around her elbows and knees doesn't seem to animate too well. It looks like they're made of spaghetti. Try cutting a few bevels in the outside of the joints so that they can expand and thus deform better. The hair is very good. What did you do it with?

All in all, excellent start though!
