How do I get rid of the text that pops up in text boxes like search boxes in IE? Killing off cookies and history doesn't work. I'm tired of getting paranoid what my girlfriend will find when she does a search on google using my computer. To many naughty searches and no effort at covering my tracks.

You could clear autocomplete or for more selective deletion press delete while you've highlighted an autocomplete option.

Yeah... because IE is free. If both were on sale for equivilant prices, Microsoft would have nothing but sloppy seconds in the browser market

And what about Mozilla, Netscape, Opera, Konqueror, Safari, and Galeon?

Mozilla, Netscape, and Mozilla Firefox all use Gekko (or was it Gecko?).

Only difference is the interface, and only Firefox is being continued.

Konqueror's a nice browser. If I was using Linux I would keep it installed, like I keep IE on Windows.

I can't really comment on Opera, Mac's Safari and Galeon. I don't even know what the last one is.

they cant make IE open source cause that would be like having the whole GUI for windows open source..... thats how tied into the OS Internet explorer is. you cannot just remove it easy either.

Common misconception. Originally, yes, they were going to discontinue Mozilla Suite and Netscape. However, Mozilla has decided to keep Mozilla Suite due to it's wide adoption in many buisnesses and Netscape is back in development using Firefox code.

Galeon is a Gecko based web browser that is planned to be discributed with the GNOME desktop for Linux. It's esentially there only since KDE has Konqueror.
