I've been playing around with encryption and these seem pretty tough to me so I want to see if you lot can crack them

The first one (included in this post) uses a 4 bit Alpha-non-numerical key.

The second included with my second post uses a 64 bit Alphanumerical key.

(Note I am including the text files with the post because I don't want to risk the forum changing the contents by pasting them )

And finally the prize: a pat on the back

Thanks
Neofish

Second file the harder one (probably )

EDIT: Note I haven't written the decrypt function for this one yet, but I am 99.9% certain that it will decrypt correctly

I can't seem to change the second file O_o so new post it is

Here is a version of the harder one that actually decrypts (I had to change the routine)

He's referring to my sig, when I am even more bored I will make a counter to count the number of people who try to look at my pr0n site (which doesn't exist)

I have know Idea where to start decrypting this... I've never decrypted something that wasn't on the side of a Cap'n Crunch box. Does anybody know where to start?

YOu have to check for patterns then break it down from there...seeming as I used XOR there is no way of working out the real text until you have the key (I think) but it can't be too hard to get it after working out the pattern because when you XOR it to get the realtext it wont make any sense until you switch it with the right key...basically it will take a very long time but it is possible. Things like ASCII shifting before and after should make it just that little bit harder

Well at least I think that's right

can't make anything out, here are my results:

Ignore the last 2 characters, they are the 13, and 10 ascii.

If you want I could give an encrypted phrase with the full text version of it

As I said on MSN:
Quote: "I figure you're using a XOR after subtracting each char from a key, which will take more effort to crack than I'm willing to put up to it"

if anyone feels like cracking this, you'll find that it is probably imposible due to the fact that the key is large and the encrypted text is pretty small. This means checking letter frequency will not help much. Anybody else have any ideas?
Neofish gave me another version of the text, in which most of the characters are above 128, which is a footprint of XOR encryption. The fact that there are letters near 128 could mean that he's adding a certain letter in the key with the text before XORing, or subtracting after the XOR. There are some odd parts that drop down as low as 36, which could mean a number in the middle of the key (numbers have high ascii values, which XORed become low values), or a wierd coincidence between key and text.

I did!?

Seeming as it becomes easier with longer files I'll encrypt my Lord of the Flies essay

Attached is the essay using a different key. Btw its 64 and TK is almost right but I didn't give him anything more than the 4 bit one...teh foo!
