Good point. Allthough I'm not trying any malicious methods and risk being banned for the rest of my schooling years

If I were you and you were me, then you'd be yourself 'cos you are me and I am you.

the only way I found to get to the game creators is to go to google and translate the page from japanese to english, though all the pictures are blocked I can read the forums

But I know what you mean about not trying anything that could ban me from the school or the computers themselves...

Here's a bit of irony. I'm a private tutor but I deal with teachers and administrators often enough to have a little insight into the other side of it.

While parents and teachers are frequently worried about the little darlings' [that would be you people for the most part] tender little minds, administrators, and the techies they use to limit school computer systems, are primarily interested in keeping themselves out of law court AND in making it difficult for a brilliant student to screw up the school computers.

This is to say that most of the administrators and all of the techies really do not [at least in private] care what you guys access, they simply don't want you wrecking things. They would never admit it to the teachers or the parents, though, and if they ever caught you they would make your life hell, simply for the principle of the thing.

My attitude has always been that if you are bright enough to break the rules then you ought to be responsible enough not to screw up the system for everyone else . . . and heaven help you if you get caught!

For my part, I routinely go to some of my brighter students, clients really since I am a private tutor, and ask them for help when it comes to dealing with computer problems. Treat young people like adults and they usually respond like adults.

It works in the opposite direction, too. I used to teach martial arts, and the best student I ever had [I was teaching taijiquan at the time] was an eighty year old woman who once upon a time was an Olympic level swimmer.

I am learning a great deal from you people and I would never pass on what I am learning to a techie, much less a school administrator. Power to the people! Have fun.

At my school i've found a way to get to some(And remember, i said SOME not ALL) sites..

To do this, you convert the hostname address to ip..

A converter can be found here. http://www.hcidata.com/host2ip.htm

Simply put in the web address of what you're looking for and voila.. Mostly only works with single addresses.. IE. www.darkbasicpro.com not www.darkbasicpro.com/blahblah/yadayada/ etc.

It'll give you an output of the ip address, copy and paste that into the url address bar and press enter and you'll be directed to the site.

Why does that site say that www.darkbasic.com is located in the US?

Because the server is located in the USA, the forum is in the UK or France or something

I am the only freaking person in school other than my friend that knows how to hack, and that actually has the front jewel case cover for Far Cry and CS:CZ in the front of my binders.

edit: oh, and our computers once blocked http://www.fcps.edu our county web site because the letters f u and c were in the adress. But, it doesnt block ANYTHING else.

Our school has blocked every single search engine except the ninemsn search, which you have to go to directly, since they blocked all of the msn sites! As a matter of fact, little more than 15 sites arn't blocked!

Our school has sh*tloads of security, we cant access most things, my computer is one. We cant right click, there is no quickstart menu which is a pain in the ass. So many websites are banned, and if u go on a banned website they have a system which automatically takes a screenshot of it and prints it out, got me in trouble when we went on porn on my account . Thats how i know how the system works, he told me and confronted me with screenshots lol. I just said i went to the toilet and someone else did it for a joke, genius.

But the system is virtually impossible to get around. We cant use cd drives or floppy disk drives either. Its shhhhhhhiiiiiiiii*

sry i haven't had time to read the whole thread.. our school pupil doesn't have most of the utilities and stuff or let you browse the main drives but i found several workarounds...
using the language we use in school (turbo pascal) i wrote a program that took user input and executed it so it worked like the run command in the start menu, and if you copied a shortcut on some compiters you could still use the properties button on the toolbar to change the addess so you just set it to wherever you want it to go and it works (eg c:windows )
to bypas our proxy blocking ftp i just wrote a http upload script using php and put it on my webserver.
edit: as for downloading many fileextensions are blocked eg exe and zip, so i just delete the file extension completely and add it again once i've downloaded it.

clever spazuh!
we can't go anywhere anymore or do anything. some punks broke into the school and vandalized everything, including putting a fire extinguisher to all of the computers. well, i won't have to make up all of that work for intro. bca.

i still fail to see the point of having right click disabled in onyl internet explorer(it was enabled on the desktop)

i mean it actually hurt the teaching because we couldnt right click to save pictures for our webpage and it wouldnt let u view the source of a webpage(although i helped my teacher a ton by finding out that u can open urls in notepad; in the open file dialog just type in the url instead of clicking a file)

so yea it was stupid though but the notepad trick worked for most everything(except for sites like google where it is java or encrypted)

btw
finally thank u tgc for putting a mailback thing in the forum

my avatar is working for the first time since free-space went down

Their are so many restrictions on the computers at my school, that I help lots of the teachers trying to correct problems caused by other students breaking the restrictions because they do not know how, but I do .

Saving a picture:
Select it by holding the left mouse button above the picture and moving the cursor to the bottom of it. Now press ctrl+c and paste it in word or something

Getting page source:
At the top of IE select view -> source

I am actually kind of lucky, because the computers in my class have a huge security flaw. I don't know why, but they allow us to access all files/settings/and even the control panel, I could delete windows If I wanted to, but that would just be wrong.

ye, keep telling yourself that while you program in db and use windows for everything

I would say deleting everything would be "wrong", because it makes the computer unusable to students until someone reinstalls windows on it.

And the list of sites gets larger. I had an hour and a half to do absolutely nothing in my keyboarding class, and DevMaster as well as a proxie I use(d) was blocked.
