I know that each cell on the grid is 100 units by 100 units but what do the unit represent?

Actually, it's dx units. I am not sure what the conversion is, but think of it this way. A player is 72 Dx units tall. That should be about 6 feet tall.

It can be anything really, because it all changes depending on the distance of an object from the camera. For instance 10 units can either be a centimeter, or a mile, its up to you to choose.

I know that in Lightwave when you model your entitys
and walls 1 unit is 1 meter.
Because "Van B" posted some wall samples in the forum
earlier (before EA) and they were 100*100*20 units, wich
in lightwave came out as 100*100*20 meters wich made it
realy easy to size my entitys when modeling. (just remembering
that 1 wall is 100 high)

1 segment cell = 100 DX units = 3 metres
Note that all architecture isn't precisely to scale due to the vagaries of working at 90*FOV in FPS games.
...I work to the notion that if it looks right, it is right....

Well yes i was not saying that 100 units was 100 meters
in the game engine. I just wanted to point out that it is
100 meters in Lightwave. Wich makes it easy to keep your
models the correct size.

1 unit in FPS = 1 Generic unin in 3DS max, hope that helps
