I was reading through this thread, no profanity or things that would label this an "inappropriate thread" and then I see CattleRustler lock the thread.

Here Is the link to the thread.
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=48239&b=2

I just want to know why you locked it. Isn't that taking advantage of mod privilages. I've also seen other threads that CattleRustler locked for no apparent reason. I see this as annoying and somewhat irresponsible to go around locking threads because you don't like them. Just because you think that the thread is pointless and should be locked doesn't mean everyone else thinks that. I thought the idea was pretty good, and you went and ruined it.... Don't get all mad from this thread, just justify why this thread was locked...

Does anyone else think that this thread should have been locked, or should it have not. I'm just sick of seeing perfectly fine threads where people are enjoying themselves being locked.

I hate forum games, so of course I'm gonna say lock it and throw away the key.

I wouldn't have locked it, but then again CR must have his reasons.

We usually like to keep a maximum of only 2 or 3 'forum games' going on at a time so if anymore are created we simply lock them because it starts to fill the forum with pointlessness. However, in this case there's only the Word Association game and even that ones drifting away so I probably would have left that particular game unlocked, although CR might have seen a different reason to lock it.

It wasn't particularly going anywhere. Which seems to be the norm with these type of threads outside of writing forums.

Still, was kinda looking forward to seeing how people managed to write in follow ups after I got him to eat his leg. And was hoping someone would get away from the obvious Dune links.

Cheers

Maybe the recent insurge of these types of post.

Thing is, most of us don't want to read about people being slapped with large trouts, and we certainly don't want that infecting other threads. There's plenty places on the internet where you can act like a spanner, let's keep apollo off that list.

Ya I know what your saying Van B, but I still think that others might enjoy these threads. I can understand locking this thread if there is a lot of other forum games going on, but honestly, I don't think one where people are enjoying themselves are going to hurt the forum. What would or could hurt the forum is threads being locked just because another mod didn't like it.

I would have let it continue had there been some cohesion between the entries but apparently no one could get it moving along. IMHO it turned into useless drivel and I locked it. Don't make it sound like I go around locking stuff for no reason.

I side with CR on this one: it wasn't going anywhere at all. Forum games are fun at times, that one had the opportunity to be somthing cool, but it started going downhill fast.

yeah, he he. i would have loved to see that go somewhere, but coders are un cooperative, and also not the best of writers, most often. to bad.

I was taking a risk starting that thread, but don't forget I did say it would go in one of two ways:

1) it'd work out brilliantly.
2) it'd fail miserably.

It didn't take long either.

Quote: "that one had the opportunity to be somthing cool, but it started going downhill fast."

I did put a fait bit of thought into it before I started it, the rules etc. But I think the general 'immaturity' this forum has left the end of the game as a bit of a given.

With a good group of people, a game like that can work out great. But thinking about how the 'wish corruption' game went, I'm not surprised it went pear-shaped within 48 hours.

Reading the posts above, I'm pleased to see the mods were willing to give it a chance, thanks for that.

Wouldn't have gone downhill if someone hadn't critised my minor punctuation mistake and failed to point it out in the same thread. At least I could have corrected it before more damage was done.

It may have started off bad with a few irrelevant posts, but what thread doesn't have those? Plus, you said that it wasn't going any where, but you didn't give it enough time to ever get started. Plus I saw major payne getting some really good stuff in there. Just because a few posts were irrelevant doesn't make the whole thread useless

In order for a thread to be out of hand and pointless in my opinion, it should at least exceed a certain amount of posts. The thread was only around 15 posts before you locked it. Anyway, I thought that if you hadn't locked it, it could have been a good forum game...

By the way, I'm not trying to say that you lock all the threads you don't like, I'm just saying you may have made a few mistakes on locking certain threads. All I'm really asking is that you be a little more lenient on the topics that you lock.

Well who cares, this is a forum, not a Spelling/Grammer competition. I was looking through some more posts and found many other locked threads that should not have been locked(not just cattlerustler).

such is life

Ya, I guess that sounds fair. Just could you please give these forum games a little more time before they are locked?
