My hunch is (and my legal opinion is) that you can't do it, since the manual is copyright by TGC.

It's not "illegal," at least it doesn't violate any criminal law I'm aware of (then again, I'm only an expert in US law). But it would violate TGC's copyright, making you liable to them for damages. In the US, copyright violations only become a crime if their total value exceeds $2500.

So, you're right, get permission.

Glyvin,
Why not produce a game for them to see? Maybe that would help more than a Manual. Words can only discribe so much. Pictures, Lights and Sounds can make it so much clearer.

Releasing any commercial bundled software (in this case the manual) is a break on several international laws. Bundled commercial software or any parts of it, cannot be released without appropiate permissions. So I think you should not release it.

Maybe it would be a good idea by TGC to release parts of it for free, so that most presales questions easily could get answered by just reading the stuff from the "lite manual"?

i had asked this question last week and one of them said they didnt see a problem with posting it for anyone to download so that someone like me who is on the fence about purchasing it could make a decision. alas, i still don't see the results of any of that since it has yet to be posted.
