Problem is Perfect Dark was rushed, because Nintendo let out its development FAR to early - and Rare were only 3months into development with a BRAND new engine.
It was ridiculous what they had to go through with that, the final development time was about 18months with a team of 4 people!!
as it was hyped up on the almost non-existant information Rare released, plus the fact that Nintendo had thier new Cartridge thingie they wanted Rare to have a Gameboy game which could also use it ... in the end the pressure just cracked them from the fans screaming for the game and all the work they had to do on it.
Goldeneye took 26month of development was an original engine, but also the story was as good as written out for them. As well as alot of the levels were already kinda there from the movie.
Perfect Dark was a brand new step... and if they'd had the 30months they wanted to spend it would've been a far superior game.
It like Starfox advantures, its a brand new medium - it was hyped up by Nintendo who canned them before the release (which actually contributed to its late release) ... plus the game wasn't planned to be so "cutsie" its Nintendo in its infinate wisedom that they took out alot of the content.
But that said the controls arn't exactly top notch

Still 10months from planning to game was still a very impressive achievement for 10people.
and just for Shader ... a Spline is a Segmented Point Line - basically kinda like a drawing line but the computer cuts it into Nth amount of it peices at equal intervals based on length

(angles are Eluar Calculated)
why?
from what i've seen (man mark has a REALLY dirty mind cause you see ALOT) *ahem* as i was saying ... from what i've seen Perfect Dark 2 is to be much more detailed.
and the story this time is far better and indepth, because - well heck i just know it is

There is an interesting fact spinning around Rare at the moment, if they should complete development for the GameCube OR should they let Microsoft know that is isn't finished and release on the X-Box.
Personally i think it'll look sweet on the Cube with that Animé feel to it, i dunno - but i dunno
maybe they need a new face there to actually help them develop games that get the gamers back and let the world know again why they're the UK's second biggest company (behind Core ofcourse ... and that isn't due to Biasism in ANY WAY

)
