I was using Lithunwrap 1.3 to texture this model that I'm making for Quake III. At one point I realized that I needed to add some things to the actual 3D model before I could successfully texture it.

After I made those minor changes to the model (like adding whiskers), do I have to go reunwrap, rescale, and reposition every body part of my model like it was a new model? I tried to merge the old 3d model with the new one, but when I delete the bad 3D groups, they still show up on the screen.

The parts you added will certainly need to be unwrapped. The parts you changed (let's say you subdivided some faces to introduce those whiskers) might need to be updated (depends on your modelling software). The rest that's unchanged should be fine, unless you have really crappy modelling software that wipes the UV coordinates for those unchanged faces. Easiest way to tell is to load the model up in Lithunwrap and see what your changes have done to the UV map. Oh, and always keep a backup copy when doing stuff like this...
