Hello,
It seems that new users seem to ask for advise on, a 3D Modelling Tool, here is a list and some details about them and their prices, that I know of, hopefully this will help users new to 3D get the right software quickly;

Product :- trueSpace 3.2
License :- Commercial
Price :- Free

Brief :- This great free 3D Modelling tool, is a great starting point to the world of 3D, I myself used this product for a long time and produced decent results, it has a reliable .X exporter and can import OBJ and 3DS along with various other formats. It has a good set of tools and is easy to learn, although there are later versions of this product which cost $599USD unfortunately i dont know the GBP price.

Product :- gameSpace
Price :- Check the gameSpace site either [href]www.caligari.com/gamespace[/href] or here on the Game Creators site!
License :- Commercial

Brief :- gameSpace is an alternative to trueSpace, with a price, but it is still a great tool, developed especially for creating models for games with ease. There is a free version GameSpace Lite but there is a limit to the polycount if you go over it exporting is disabled.
GameSpace Lite is available for download on the caligari site.

Product:- Maya Complete/Unlimited
License:- Commercial
Price: LOTS!!! AND LOTS!!! 4800GBP for Unlimited

Brief: Both packed full of features, but at a large price as you can see above. The only downfall is that the exporters for this product are hard to get and many dont work, used for Lord Of The Rings movie trilogy.

There is a free version the Maya PLE (Personal Learning Edition) currently at version 6 (for Windows) although its export and imports are limited.

Product :- 3D Studio Max
License:- Commercial
Price:- unknown but its quite a bit

Brief:- Loaded in features 3D Studio Max is a great product despite the price.
GMAX is a Free alternative.

Product:- Cinema 4D
Price: Unknown

Brief:- This product is a great product and is an easy product to learn, BigAdd uses it and he produces great renders and it can produce graphics like those in Shrek.

Milkshape 3D
Price:- unknown
Brief:- cheaper, alternative.

Thats all i can think of for now, hope this helps!

Thankyou
Pyro Man

Thanks for the effort Pyro Man, but the same information is available in one of the permanent sticky posts at the top of the forum. The only problem with the permanent posts, though, is that some of the information is outdated and probably half or more of the URL addresses are now dead.

@ IanG Surreal Studio,
I will - i only read through the names, and thought that Well Known Modellers, was a post about great modellers, and not the tools, then when i read it an hour ago i realised to check the stickies

Cinema 4D costs around £400 i think. It has recently been used in the film "The polar express" .It was previously used in King arthur. But then again Maya was used in Lord of the rings. So Maya has the upper hand for now
