M-Works Software Productions websit:

This site is dedicated to the creation of 3d games. The site was just put up and games are in development, but M-Works offers some neat services like:

Website Building/Makeover
Game Creation Tutorials (coming in early March)
Links to helpful sites
And more...

Join the forum and talk about upcoming games and programming in DarkBasic Classic and DarkBasic Pro. Tell me what you think of the site. I hope that you enjoy it. Please post because I need some feedback.

Uhm, to be totally honest, if you want to offer services such as website building, get a decent webhost + a domain name, as the current url and the banners look very unprofessional.

Also, the news items dont fit in the box very well, and a few other niggles here and there.

I just put the site up. That is why the topic is "M-Works Software productions website is finally here!" not "M-Works Software productions website has been here for a year!". I am working on finding a new host. They allow me to order a domain name, but I am short on cash to spend on it. I have not allocated enough money to spend on the website right now because I am focusing on my game Warlords of Earth!

Well, also, if you are providing web design services, a good tip is to design your own site.

@mgamer12: That was uncalled for. Also, I gave you feedback, and you get all defensive about it. Not a good start...

Well it is the truth. I said that it was finally here, not that I have perfected everything. I was looking for someone to comment on some of the screenshots that I have out and also my game ideas.

I don't like the search my site feature....
I don't like your logos...
I don't like the fact that some of your links ooze out of the navigation box.
I don't like the screenshots.
For one, they're not the same size
And second of all you have an... electrified soldier..... Hehm... And... The area around the city? Where's the city?

You asked for feedback, you got some of the feedback from my first few glances...

Anyone looking to design websites for other people needs to make their site as a glaring advertisement of their skills. If your own website isn't upto scratch then you might as well forget web design altogether. The best way web designers attract customers is through existing sites that they've designed, a lot of them will provide links to example sites that customers can snoop around in - without that your sunk.

Also, a logo done in Word's text art is a major no no - if you can't draw then ask someone who can to make you a logo.

I don't quite think that's what he meant...

Its at the bottom of every page.

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

I built the site myself. By what they say of it being BUILT and Hosted at Bravenet means that I built the site and put it on Bravenet. All the free websites from Bravenet have that at the bottom of every page regardless. Also, I have gotten great remarks on the various screenshots from others.

@NetHack MegaDude, I thought you were Jimmy.

Mgamer12, try to put your screen shots in jpg format, since they are much smaller, and load faster than bmp's.

Obviously have to repeat myself : Put it through a spellchecker! Easiest thing to do in 2 secs basically.

I did not make this with word. I coded it in HTML and CSS. Of course there are going to be spelling errors. Check out Microsoft's website and complain to them about all of their errors in their site/software/books.

Nobody said you coded it in word, but word isn't the only app with a spellchecker. You ask for feedback, you get it, you complain. If you can't take criticism, be prepared for a very unpleasant life, especially as most people here are trying to help you.

My advice: Change your attitude, and learn about webdesign before you a. make a site, b. try and sell webdesign services.

This seems like a good opportunity to plug my websites:

http://www.drewsgames.com - my games website
http://www.ddrw.com - my films website

I did them in Frontpage... it's pretty good and does spellchecking etc... My hosting is Vapournet.co.uk - give them a look

Uhm, no offence, but don't mention webdesign and frontpage in the same thread, its a bit of a contradiction

I am not taking the critisism too harshly. All that I am saying is that I did this all in HTML in Notepad and I am low on cash. That is all. The site does not focus on web design, it is just one minor feature!
