Can anyone suggest any good new multiplayer games that are out, specifically that support LAN play? (No mmo games). Planning on having some mates round in a few weeks for a mass gaming sesh, so need to pick up a few new titles. BF1942 can only go so far.

Halo (PC version of course) and Call of Duty are mighty fun at LAN partys.

If you love someone, set them free; If they come home, set them on fire.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions, but let me elaborate. By new, I mean within the last 6 months probably, and preferably something that offers something a little different. We have BF1942, CoD, Halo, Operation Flashpoint, Doom3, HL2, PainKiller etc. What would be great would be something else with a cooperative slant, or a decent RTS that isn't just build/select all/attack/repeat, maybe a good sport sim.

Nothing i can think of yet.. Project snowblind might end up being coop.... I think Area 51(coming out in spring) will also have a co-op mode.

Oops, didn't see 'new'...

In that case, no I have no new ones to suggest (Its been slow releases for good lan games ).

If you love someone, set them free; If they come home, set them on fire.

warhammer 40k: DoW good RTS. Dosnt have the same resource gathering other RTS do, instead you capture locations for "money".

Note: The above I didn't say, your just crazy.

Oh man, I have hidden and dangerous 2. Bought it purely for the coop multiplayer aspect. It's the worst RTS I've played in ages. Bad locations, AI, graphics and pretty much everything else! Coop mode doesnt save it!

you said you had hl2 so i asume you have downloaded counter-strike source, the new update has bots with great ai so if you play as a team vs ai it is great fun. also try hl2 deathmatch, great fun throwing things at each other, the grav gun can be used very tactically to take our rpg's with filling cabinets and shield from normal bullets, sprinting at the enemy with a table or something big blocking their gun then firing it at point blank range is a good tactic. (be careful, the can catch it though)

I find Warcraft 3 enjoyable although the basic LAN mode isn't very original

Something to doing?

Well, it's not new but Starcraft is great for some awesome LANing fun. Me and my mates always break it out every 6 months and have a blast relearning the game and swarming eachothers bases.
