That was my recommendation to use win2kpro. I plan on using it on my new computer I'm ordering soon, and I think unless you plan on using the dx sdk you should use 2000

xp is the merging of win 9x and nt so youll find it is better than 2000 at running dos type stuff than 2000 but 2003 that beats all windows os's at user freindliness
