I'm just about to attempt to make some aircraft in 3D and was wondering if any1 would like some for free?

the model's should be a sinch to make but i'm dunno how to texture them

if some1 could guide me through how to texture it'd be well appresiated. even some links to any texturing tool would be great.

these are the aircraft i'm planning on making.

the A-10 "Warthog" and the F-15 "Eagle"

hows that sound to u lot.

p.s sorry about some of the spelling

i'll think about a 747, but i dunno if i could do the interior. i got no idea what it looks like on the inside.

would any1 want me to model the weapons for the planes too?

i'll do more on the a-10 and post another image when i got further with the modeling

The Fairchild Republic Thunderbolt II has always been one of my favorite aircraft.

right new update. done a little bit of smoothing on the a-10 and re-did the engines. just got to do the landing gear and animate it.

does any1 want me to add weapons to it. I'll even try and animate the cannon aswell.

whats every1 think of it so far?

i've just looked at some propper images of the plane and i put the cannon in the wrong place. mistakes happen i suppose.

btw once i got it complete i'm gonna let any1 have it free for use in a stategy game or as they see fit. I will be using it in a game of my own but it'll have some changes like a real cockpit and real connopy.

well i'm glad some ppl like it. and it a good representation of the a-10 even if i do say so myself.

Once you get the GAU-8 repositioned, you should be good to go. The animations might be overkill. The hardpoints on an A-10 can be subject to change. There are 'wet' and 'dry' racks and they can be removed as needed for maintenance, cannibalization, or just to reduce the weight of the aircraft. Generally, the wet racks (the ones you can mount external fuel tanks to) are always present since they are pain to remove and replace unless absolutely required.

For game purposes, I'd leave all the pylons on so that the player can mix and match ordinance and balance out the load. I've been out of the USAF for a while, so I don't know if all the A-10A have been converted to use air-to-air missiles or not. Time to do some homework if you want to get it right for the grognards out there.

BTW, you can find a nice reference photo here:
http://www.af.mil/media/photodb/photos/021105-O-9999G-024.jpg

The silver panel is for inflight refueling, and you can see that the GAU-8/A is slightly off center. There is also a pylon to the left of the gun where you can mount a sensor pod such as Pave Penny.

chears zircher.

i got a lot of aircraft books just dunno which has the a-10 in it. i have moved the 30mm cannon and started on the undercarrage.

it'll be hard to get it correct so i'm gonna take a bit of poetic licence for the time being till i get more used to the modeling package i'm using.

i don't supose u could get me some images of the landing gear so i can get it somewhat correct.

[edit] didn't see the link to some pics chears mate

as u said

i'll have to get the texturing right as we all know it can either make or break a modle.

and to any1 else reading this post... please comment on it and keep coming back for the updates

Gotta love the web!

The A-10 is designed for in the field canabalization. The left and right landing gear for example are interchangeable.

heres the latest update. i've just fitted the front undercarrage. i know its not perfect but its still looks good. since its for a game i'm not going overbored with it.

here we go

oh and a few things i changed are the length of the engines... they were too long and the overall length was a teeny bit too long so that was shortened down too.

next for the wing landing gear and the wing pylons

Pretty darn nice. Of course, there are some items that I could nit-pick. But, going for that last 2% might not be worth the effort since you're going for a game model and not a simulation.

i finnished the undercarrage and added the weapon racks to the wings.

i'm now gonna start texturing it once i got the uv map sorted out. what colour should i do it, ghost grey, sand & olive green, desert style?

oh and for those who wanna nit pick... i know the front gear flaps are not exactly right, but it is on the correct side. and i know i'm missing one or too things off the body work but i can do them later on

well here u go. for those who want it as an rts model u can have it right now but u'll need to texture it and animate it yourself as the moment.

enjoy the eye candy

right i've done some basic texturing on the plane now. need a better painting app than paint but it's looking much much better i think.

i know the colour could be wrong which i can change when i get to sort it out
