Hi,

Does anybody know whether the FPSC's distributed exes need DBPro -or any of its dlls- installed on the "final" user's computer in order for them to run?

I tested a couple of demos that have been recently posted with no success -I mean, no change in the screen, nothing.

I'm asking this 'cause the same thing happens with DBPro's compiled exes. You make a game demo exe then install it in a friend's computer and nothing happens.

All the computers have Win XP, the directX version is the most recent release and the installed graphic cards are quite good.

I periodically reformat my HD so I had the opportunity to test this myself and I did with the same result.

Weird ...

It doesn't require them. Although I do have DBPro, I have tried this several games on PCs that don't have DBPro on them, and they work fine for me.

Just make sure you get all of the files for the game you are trying. It needs a lot more than just the .exe. You do need to copy the entire folder that the exe is in.

ok. I'll look into it again but just to be sure, have you tried any of the fpsc demos? I downloaded a few, installed or unzipped them -depending whether there was an installer exe or a zip file - but couldn't run them.

Yes, those are the ones I tried. At least the ones I found from
www.fpscreators.com, anyway.

Make sure that you have DirectX 9.0 installed...

Enjoy

My PC at work has neither installed, and they work fine on that one.

Well, I tried in my sister's computer -which is a system, say, "outdated"- and the demos do run. It takes more than 10 seconds to get the initial screen but then everything goes fine. In that computer, sometimes the movement flow gets a bit sticky for a second or two.

Maybe it's related to my system's specs.

I'm running Win xp pro on a Athlon 64 3000+ and my videocard is an MSI 6600 GT.

When I run the demos I also check the Win's task manager program and the exe appears and dissapers from them in the split of a second. I played with the exe compatibility modes but still no success.

Other than that, I don't know what else to try.

I found were the problem was.

For anyone who has DirectX SDK version installed: verify that the "Use retail version of Direct3D" radio button in the "Direct3D" tab is selected. Neither DBP exes nor FPSC's ones will run in D3D debug mode.

I have the SDK installed and have never had to do that.

Are you running a debug version of DirectX and still DBPro/FPSC works?
