you're using the demo of DBC? i suggest switching to the demo of DBP. just that's what i've been already told.

don't be too suprised if you set the camera range long and set the graphics to hi res you can pump some power in DBC, it looks almost as good as DBP, but DBP has all the obvious extra graphical qualities that DBC can't compete.

Can anyone tell me the theory of knowledge?

please explain what you mean and what these mysterious obvious qualities are exactly.
DB Pro is just a different engine not necessarily a better one.
If you could refer me to any of your own demos that demonstrate any of the things you are talking about it would lend a bit more credence to your statement but until you have actually run my demo, which you have not, you are wallowing in assumption.
Give me actual facts, not theories!

DBP community FPS or mercenaries. I used to use DBC. Then I got DBP and it has better things like shaders and .FX files

I suppose that could be argued but DBPro gives you many more commands, better control over the system, uses a better version of DirectX, and is machine-code compiled instead of appending the bytecode to a stub executable containing the interpreter.

Yeah, DBP is faster, but it has its share of bugs, and it relies on DirectX 9.c

Full sliding collision on those kind of objects! How did you pull that one off? Does it run fast? And do you think maybe you could pump out some source for that kind of collision detection later down the road?

By the way, the game looks great.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

The concept of the game used in the demo "Outpost 2" is of an alien race trying to enslave mankind.
The original "Outpost" game is in the showcase featuring a mobile armoured cannon with realistic self-aligning steering.

Full sliding collision as in BSP type collision where every object in the game is recognised be it blocks, panes, sheets or lengths of timber has been available since "Jopie" made it available. A full working engine that recognises every object placed in it.

My demo was not to present you with a game but demonstrate certain principals already available within the forum such as full sliding collision. As such whenever Dark Basic give me the means of uploading the demo you will see a 2.5mb zip approx containing one and a half miles square of forest, canal, railyard, town square, courtyards. Plus glass, wire fence, water, sky. Bullet collision.
If that is not enough you have over 48 static game characters to test the display ability and you can shoot them all. You can even shoot out the glass. When you look at the physical size of the file and then the massive size of the level you just might be impressed.

No, DBC uses DirectX 8 DBPro uses DirectX 9. You're limited with what you can do graphically in DBC.

DBPro has numerous benefits over DBC, I mean - I can't remember the last time I used DBC. Things like boned animations, memblocks, better transparency modes and better built-in effects like spheremapping and cubemapping - then you have shaders on top of that. I tested DBPro FPS on my brothers higher spec PC yesterday, and speed wise, it's miles above DBC (like it's as smooth and fast as any commercial FPS I've played).

People need to stop worrying about DBPro bugs that probably won't even effect them and start developing in a language that they can push further.

This message is for anyone that still mentions how fast any piece of software runs...
If you can play Splinter Cell on your computer or Black Hawk Down or indeed any of the modern games then anything but the worst coding examples from Dark Basic will run like a cheetah on your machine.
Splinter Cell needs at least 256mb ram and 128mb graphics just to run and actually recommends more so why should Dark Basic programs be asked to use less.
If you run the best software on the oldest, slowest computers it will look slow or it might not even run at all.
It makes as much sense as trying to run Dark Basic on an old 486.

DirectX - The version of this that should be on your machine is 9c
This latest version of DirectX will give more support no matter what Dark Basic product you possess.
DirectX7 and below is for non pentium type computers
DirectX8 and above supports Pentium type chips and added support for graphic cards etc.
Software that is written during a new DirectX life cycle can access new features that were not available in the previous version, that only stands to reason.

Question for the moderator
A proper Bone Based Engine would allow you to take in any static model and apply animations to it from within the editor.
Unreal only requires the model in it's own bone format to do this as does Quake, 3D Game Studio etc.
Can DB pro do this or if not are you just taking bone based animations into it just as you would with DBC and therefore no difference.
A normal animation can make the character look a bit jerky.
A bone based animation looks smoother because it is more realistic.
Either animation can be applied to your model before being put in a game.

You seem to have missed the point of the demo which is that Dark Basic Classic can run a large complicated level.
There is no game as such, just a very large level showing nice complicated builds and populated with about 50 characters.
Consider it a large diarama.
I will post more screenshots however just to give you a better idea of the quality.
