I have a question about collision. I know how to detect it - the Sprite Hit or Sprite Collision commands - but I need to know of a way to tell which direction the sprite is colliding in. For example, take the average top-down Final Fantasy game. If you hit a wall to the north, how do you know that it's the north so that you can make sure the sprite doesn't go any farther north?

Thanks in advance.

Also, one other question that I have, along with a comment that might make this easier to answer. Is it possible to do collision by making a "collision map" behind your background? The parts you can walk through would be transparent, and the solid objects would be black or something, and you check to see if you collide with a black part by using the SPRITE HIT command.

Is that even possible, and if not, how would I go about doing it? I've read something about a tile system, but I don't quite comprehend it.

Also, I am using DBPro. Thanks again.

Thanks, comando.

I've pretty much given up on the collision map idea, but njow I need help with tiling. I don't now exactly how to paste a copy of each type of tile where I want to, and can't figure it out.
