I thought some voice acting would be good for my project, so I looked around and hired some voice actors! Above is a sample of the game's script... Wasn't cheap though ($375!!!!)

I think that if I'm to spend alot of time making sure the graphics looking good, then the sound of the game should get equal treatment.

The man sounds a bit like Guy Savioe

Will the sound be chopped up into several bits then played in sequence to make a cut scene?

The guy sounds weird to me. Like he isn't really trying, or something because each of the voice types were a bit too similar.

Be interesting to see and hear the final results In-Game.

Man...you are a combination of stupid and insane. I will try to pray for your soul.

EDIT: (No serosuly Drew. My friend would have done an equally good job for 10$)

Nice voices over all. Definatly not worth 375.

$375 for a few minutes with a actor, I must say I should do this and make a lot of profit for talking down the mic.

Seriously, if you had looked around I'm sure you could of found someone who could do it for less than that.
(What was wrong with you doing it yourself anyway?)

How mature of you.

Well forgive me. I just heard the word "Hi Dumbo" and "Hey cool" in your script and thought that voice acting is for this game.

Sorry about your harddrive crashing. (Well not really, but try to back it up next time)

Erm, is there some sort of argument going on that no one but the two of you have going on?

Personally don't think it was right of you to attack Drew like that Megaton.

Quote: "Above is a sample of the game's script"

Sample = tid bit, little piece, quicky, snippet.

Who knows how much voice acting he'll get. It's not his fault he didn't contact your friend who he didn't know existed either.

On a lighter note, I honostly couldn't see Drew doing a women's voice.(No offense Drew)

Assuming there is about 3-5minutes of Script, then yeah the cost is about right for Professional work.

While your mate could do it for $10, does he happen to have a professional sound-proof studio at his disposal with a professional sampling systems, along with a professional sound editor to finalise the results?

Drew Cameron is obviously going for retail results, and as such that will cost. The end result will mean it doesn't sound like someone is talking down a DECT phone.

In a business where Quality is what makes money, this is a sound decision.

I didn't attack him. I told him it was a rip.

If you're an indie company with a budget then yes that price for voice work is resonable. If you're a hobbyst programmer, you should concentrate on the gameplay rather then shell out hundreds of dollers out of your own pocket for a luxary like professional voice acting.

Just my opinion, I am not telling him what to do.
Hope you understand.

Honestly Mike, I was joking about that bit.

Don't be so sure he wouldn't have tried to sell the game commercially. You are not him, don't make assumptions.

'Are you referring to this?'

I'm standing up with drew, I know thie grapics for this game isn't good. but lets face it, at least he's been bothered to spend hard working time creating a game.

I'm pretty sure Drew will get a lot better in the future with the grapics, or might just buy grapics or maybe those grapics are ment to be like that (like XII)

Either way, you have been ripped a little with that voice thing, but if it makes you happy, then good for you and don't get down by other negative user comments!

GL with your games.

I must admit, I do find it somewhat odd that you'd pay for this stuff, when you have loads of sound engineers and musicians around here who are actively looking to help out on projects. You could've got this stuff for free. You can even hear the condenser hiss and static pop of the mic connection, so it doesnt sound like they were using pro equipment.

Not to diss, because if you have the money to burn then this would be the easiest way. I just think if you'd asked on these forums you could've got the exact same quality of results for free.

hehe cool sound clips..

I'd say if he got loads of these things then it was definately worth it.. I didn't hear any hissing or pops.

It sounded quite professional to me.. The girl sounded like a hotty.. though ya never know with voices^_^
