Two free songs from itunes Pepsi is making 24oz and 1 liter bottles with free itunes songs, 1 in 3 chance..

Anyways, I downloaded the itunes client and I downloaded me songs, it is a *fantastic* operation.. Songs there you just can't get anywhere else (winmx style, anyways) :o did I say that out loud x_x

This is something I'd definately put money for though.. The songs are a bit pricey at 99 cents, but not bad..

Songs are at 128kb/s in a m4p format, but it's quite simple to convert them to mp3's so you can listen to em in proper music proggys.. The details are not appropriate for this forum however, but you can easily google how to do it

So here I am... buying mountain dew by the dozen

I thought that iTunes Music Store songs were in Apple's own AAC format?

You can convert anything to anything, just as long as you have the software, or the knowhow.

No it doesn't.

Anyways-- this might be the first reason ever to buy Pepsi . And compared to album prices, 99 cents is dirt cheap isn't it?

I wouldn't say dirt cheap. Some albums have 13 or so songs on, thats $13. Not much cheaper than buying the album in the shops I'm guessing.

my problem with the prices is the fact that you only get a download, you don't get the cd, or case, or booklets or anything..

You're paying the same price for an album on itunes as you would going to a store and picking up the cd..

And then you've gotta convert it from m4p to mp3 to do anything with the file... (other than what itunes lets you do with it.. play it or send it to your ipod or burn it to a cd)

itunes is ok, I have mac amp as my substitute sometimes.

yaac is "yet another audio encoder" for OSX and other linux distros which is well good.

aac is optional for itunes and ipods.

mine are all still mp3s

Holy crap that's highway robbery! We can buy most albums here for $12-15 Canadian! That's under $10 US :p

But for my MP3 downloading legalness, I choose allofmp3.com because they charge around $0.15-0.25 a song, depending on the length. And they have pretty much all of the good albums and the songs can be encoded in different formats (MP3, WMA, OGG, etc.).

EDIT:

And you can preview EVERY song in its entirety, unlike ITunes' paltry 30 seconds

that's great megaton, but some songs you just can't .. you know.. get.. Unless you buy the song or album, go itunes! Can now blow a dollar rather than 10 to 15, (or 20+ if you go to retail stores) for an entire album of mostly bad music (sometimes, other times the entire album's good, which has shocked me on a few cd's I've bought..

This should work, to convert anything in iTunes to mp3 (AAC etc.).

1. Edit -> Preferences
2. Click on the 'Importing' tab
3. Select 'MP3 Encoder' and then any quality settings
4. Click OK
5. Right click file[s] in Music Library (The ones to be converted from AAC)
6. Click 'Convert Selection to MP3'

Simple as - [This works on songs I've imported and been converted by iTunes to AAC (ggr) not sure if Apple prevent songs it knows that have been off the store...]
