The Internet Archive has just given UNLIMITED space and bandwidth for ANYONE to upload their pictures, music, videos, and everything else they can think of. They also give free personal blogging utilities and lots of other cool stuff!

The basis of it is that you can share it with anybody that you want, kind of like a community.

I can't wait to see what other stuff people upload

http://www.ourmedia.org/

Here is their FAQ where you can find lots of information.

Pretty cool, huh? Now Drew Cameron and other movie-makers can store gigs upon gigs of movies

This seems too good to be true.

Anyway, I can't access it, it's asking for a username + password.

Too good to be true. People always underestimate bandwidth usage...

QED, I can't access the site right now

You have to wait for an email now.

Seeing as how it's the same guys who brought us http://www.archive.org which basically archives the entire Internet dozens of times over, bandwidth will most likely not be an issue.

I could get in all day, but some people are having issues after the Slashdot DDOS

Thing is even the internet archive was incredibly slow, and not many people knew about it. As fascinating as a complete archive of the internet (not that it is complete) is, free hosting for anything will interest far more people, and obviously uploading 50mb videos is far, far more costly than hours of browsing text-only site archives.

I think it's a great idea, but I don't see how they can possibly have enough space and bandwidth.

The Internet Archive is not just "text-only site archives". They also have a software, video, and audio section where they've been offering free hosting for years.

And the Internet Archive is hosted on different servers than ourmedia--- I mean, Hotmail had close to a million people with free e-mail accounts before it was sold to Microsoft, and that would require major bandwidth too --- they did just fine.
