Hello all!

I've been trying to create animations with BIPED and PHYSIQUE in 3D Studio Max and export the animations out as *.X files or *.3DS files, but I can't because it gives me a nonanimation file.

I need a way to put the animation data from Physique to the mesh.

How do I conqure this problem?

goto the Microsoft website and download the Direct x 8.1B SDK Extras which is pretty big (bout 40Mb i think) but it has the export plugins for Maya, 3D Max 3&4 and others. If u cant then try to search the net for the dx 8.1B export plugin and eventualy u should find it.

When u export a 3d file to .x change the export option from binary to text and don't change any of the other options cos for some reason it will crash. Then it is done! a 3d model with bone base anim!!!

The .x export wont work with 3dsmax 5 but it works great with 3dsmax 4 (dont know bout 3dsmax 3)

Don't export to 3ds cos its crap and doesn't support bone based anim.

from what I read, the dx9 extras file gives u support for all versions. but those you have to compile, couldn't find a compiled version in the file. perhaps you'll need visual c or something. dx9 version supports max4, 5 and 3, as ffar as I know.

dx8b supports 2.5, 3, 4 If I remember well.If you can count on soeone with c++ knowledge, better.Oh, you don't need to download 40mb! I downloaded dx81 sdk extras, it was 1.08 mb. The dx9 extras just 1.39. No more than a floppy each.

Just remember that for now seems that dx9 version doesn't bring the compiled one (XSkinExp.dle in dx8)
