Also, the number of addons are beginning to worry me :/ I do hope it doens't grow out of control as I don't fancy paying for loads of new features

Final gripe: they're turning down feature requests saying its a bug fixing week only. What do they do the rest of the time - work on FPSC?

Get 15 new commands, all the date / time commands left out of DBPro for free!

FPSC 1.0 and U6. But they also said that they were going to focus on stability before features even if it means pushing U6 back further.

I don't believe any new addition packs were announced in this chat, in fact they turned down several questions about what might be future additions and made it clear several things would be free, so to me at least the chat was full of good news.

If they want stability, they should start working on Dark Basic 2 using the knowledge of the mistakes they've made over the past few years.

Wish someone had logged this from Chatzilla, it would've been nice to read it coloured like it appears on-screen.

Mike the Light Grey on White is kinda hard on the eyes.

hmm.. interesting read.
stability wise, I feel alot of things probably need complete rewriting starting with the compiler.

That said most of the bugs conserning stability from my experience seem to stem from the lack of depth the compiler has.

I've been painting textures all day, with my monitors settings up to see detail properly... when i looked at Mike's version it actually physically hurt to look at.

After several hours of tiney detail work sometimes you just want to read something nice and big with bold colours.

Hehe, sorry Raven. I'll reformat it sometime tomorrow. For now just highlight the text.

I think TGC is moving in the right direction concerning the fact that they'll be pushing for increased stability. Two thumbs up(especially once I get my grubby little hands on the vertex commands!)

Good grief, I'm sure we're all glad they did not in fact turn around and start on DarkBASIC 2, leaving an almost excellent and stable but technically broken product behind. Rather they're fixing it and gearing up for more excellent enhancments later on.

Just so MOUSE, DBPro has to have a solid foundation, or anything built on it might start to wobble. I have built FPSC entirely upon it, and used the exercise to find all the weak spots. The bug week added the plasterwork to make those refinements visible, and by the time FPSC V1 is complete, the stability will have increased further. Unlike FPSC-EA, FPSC-V1 is a retail monster launch and it will need the stability to stand up against just about every PC nightmare configuration out there. For this, there is a hefty dose of system testing to hit U58+ before you see U6.0. I am leaning away from adding too much more to the core command set, and instead opt for add-on DLLs for further enhancements. The main reason is that the core can continue to get more stable as fewer and fewer changes are required to it. When you make a change, you risk a bug (or as DBPro users like to think of them, feature amendments). I hope to do another bugweek right after FPSC-V1 is done, to catch those bugs that escaped the net in March, and any new ones that might have found their way into the DB universe. Eventually, the core will simply exist as a reliable predictable framework. If I did then move on, at least my contribution would have a level of dependability (and of course, shelf life).
