Before you do, have you tried out all the free-ware programs?

Look at the sticky in this thread ( List of well-known modelers ) at all the different ones available.
Also, on the DarkBASIC board, there's a ( Kit For Beginners ) sticky that lists alot of good, free and shareware modelers.

Personally, I've never used Maya, or 3DSMax, or any of the expensive modelers, only all the free/share-ware ones. They get the job done, and often are easier to learn, as there are less tools that clutter your modeling ability

Jess.

I've used both maya 4.5 and max studio 4.2, while i feel that maya is the better of the two just because the interface is so much easier for me to use then max.

Jess has the best advice take your time and try them all out before you make a purchase you might regret later on.

Also i actually ended up buying Truespace 6.6, instead of maya or max for the simple fact that Truespace is 1/4th the price, the whole package for truespace, with fx pack, ray pack, de pack, anipack, and gamepack only cost me around 1,200 vs 5,000 for maya and 3,500 for max.

Since i don't plan on making cash from any of the programs/games im working on, i couldn't see spending that much money for the better modeler's since this is just a hobby that i do on my spare time.

Found under Terms on Soft4download:

2.3. You cannot register the software with the manufacturer and updates are available not for all the products;
2.4. You do not receive printed license documentation;
2.5. You do not receive a copy of the software on a disk.

In other words.. as some have stated above.. this is not a legal license.. and if you obtain this you will not be able to sell or use anything of what you create
