From all 3d engines such as DBP: Truevision, Blitz, A5, and a lot of other DBP is BEST! It is the simpliest and fastest at the same time! This subject is for beginners that don't know what engine they will choose, don't waste your time - download DBP now and don't listen that guys who says that Blitz better!!!

The tested engines:
A5,A4, Truevision = very slow, only on bad qualify they runs on my PC
Blitz = not bad, but.... it supports only DX7 and what about DX8,9?????
Other = i didn't even download it, i just saw on screenshots

DBP = yes a lot of bugs, BUT pacth 4 isn't far AND THE BEST QUALIFY AND SPEED.

System on that i tested engines:
P4 1.7 128RIMM GeForceMX 64mb, WindowsXP, DirectX 8.1

Who don't agree with me????

Erm... depends what your programming style is.
Quite a few users prefer Blitz because of its stability and function layout.

Personally I prefer C++ over both, but as i don't wanna spend 1-2weeks programming in the basic framework of an engine when i can achieve the same results within these languages within a day - prefer to use these.

However that said Professional is getting more and more functionality daily thanks to a few dedicated users, whereas Blitz is very stagnant in its development.

Not hard to really choose which to go for, but that said Blitz is cheaper, which is oftenly the largest factor newbies take into consideration as most are on very limited income.
$70 / £50 isn't exactly a light chunk of change for a 12 - 18 year old without a credit card allowing them to actually purchase it themselves.

@Raven:
Yes, maybe syntax of B. is better, but its engine is not!

About C++:
If you more professional then Lee, then yes C++ is your choose, otherwise better to use DBP.
If you are taking about syntax of C++ - yes i like it too!!!

About Blitzs cost and DBP cost:
It dependes in what country you by product.
And if you have not money at all there a lot of crackers for you

actually ,lol, for total n00bs i think its the design of the box you get once purchased that matters alot lol

and DBP wins hands down there anyway, lol

\---
DBP has alot fo bugs
---/

not really, the bugs that are popping up happen to be widely used ones, and it makes it look worse, plus(and i hate to say this)its only patch 4 for god sake, lol

you should get on Amazon.co.uk or .com ... Blitz is cheaper

if you buy it outright though, will admit not alot of difference.
But still even a few bucks usually what sways alot - i mean why do you think DarkBasic still sells well even dispite Professional out?

its the cheapest of all of them
even with DarkMatter Enhancement pack its still cheapers lol

i wouldn't say i'm better at C++ than Lee, but then again remember Lee isn't programming Professional on his own - i mean notice the titles Lead Programmer next to Lee and 3D Programmer next to Mike ... so i'm guessing Mike probably takes the lead within the 3D Engine matters
Both combined - i'd have to be a young Carmack to be able to beat 2 quite talented programmers lol

Making engines isn't actually a hard task, the hard part is making them universally work.
I could make an engine specific to FPS within a week easily, but then using the same engine for an RTS - and i'd rewrite it so much would be more worth just starting from scratch.
Pro allows me to get around that, but i would love to see more C++ style syntax added in... perhaps that will come with the next evolution when DarkBasic goes from a Basic Engine language to a full language

but we'll have to wait and see what the next 3-4years will bring eh
